C’ero snorted amusedly as he continued to run a finger down Dratini’s spine, enticing a delicate thrumming from her tiny body. The day Sephiroth came to terms with the creature would be the day the Red Star exploded and rid them all of Thread for the rest of time. Well, maybe it would be better this way if dragon and flitter didn’t get along. Most things happened for a reason, so maybe it was all for the best. Changing his train of though, he replied to Celestia, “It may not be annoying Amath, but it is most certainly annoying me. He knows my preference, no offense to you or Amath.” He added politely. It wasn’t their fault he was more attracted to men, but with all things considered, he wouldn’t mind bedding an attractive woman. Creeling, Dratini stretched her neck to sniff at Jasper, entirely curious about her clutchbrother. Who was he?
Leaving the Diamond to explore her surroundings, C’ero became aware of the newly hatched flitters. The first one to grab his attention was the pudgy Copper, only because there were two weyrlings competing for her attention. It was amusing to watch only because they both seemed quite desparate to Impress her. Oh well, at least that would take attention away from the rest of them. Two Aquas hatched, but one went wild and popped between before anyone had a chance to offer it anything to eat. While it was unfortunate, it was going to happen eventually, so there was no use shedding any tears. The Silver was obviously a drama queen as she pranced around, waiting for attention, while the Scarlet looked ready to devour her at any moment. All were nice, but none seemed to catch his attention until he thought about it a bit.
Grinning, he selected a plump, juicy piece of meat and offered it to the Queen, whistling once again to try and grab her attention. Not only would Impressing her annoy Sephiroth to no end (He was already considering eating Dratini.), but it was also the perfect loophole to the Onyx’s limitation. Queen’s clutched after all, so there were hundreds of potential flitters right there.
Snorting furiously, Sephiroth beat his tail against the ground. His was up to something, and, although he couldn’t tell what, he knew he wasn’t going to like it. /I will eat her if she takes to you./ He said quite seriously, annoyance clear in his voice. No Queens, none at all. He could deal with anything else but a proddy Silver flitterby. He didn’t realize that he was being a hypocrite after all his staring at Amath, but he couldn’t stand flitts at all. He just couldn’t.

V'rel was ignoring Celestia and C'ero, which was easy, since there was a fire-lizard Hatching going on, and pretty much the entire Weyr had gathered for them. Stupid flitters. Caused too many problems. He should have just squished the eggs when he had the chance. Oh well, V'rel's eyes were still closed, and he was leaning against Kaloath, trying to block out the sounds of people chattering and fire-lizards. He was growing calmer, though he still had all that rage in the back of his mind. He really couldn't stand C'ero. There was another reason for Kaloath to win Amath's flight, so V'rel wouldn't have to take orders from C'ero. However... V'rel didn't really want to be Weyrleader. Too much pressure, to many people around at all times. It was just too much, he wasn't sure if he'd be able to take it. Kaloath didn't comment. V'rel already knew that Kaloath simply would want to win the flight because he thought Amath was pretty. Sharding dragons.
Thinking about it more, he wondered if there was another reason why he almost wanted Kaloath to win Amath's flight. V'rel had never really figured he had a sexual preference, considering how he could barely stand to be around most people. He treated the superiors with humble respect only because it had been drilled into his brain after a few, er, bad experiences. That's just what he had always known. Still, V'rel was almost amused with himself for thinking about such things, it wasn't like he cared about anyone at all. You don't really think that, Kaloath said simply, with a rumble of amusement. V'rel merely smirked despite himself. However, V'rel's mental "peace" had been shattered when that sharding Aqua had gone between. No, it wasn't because a fire-lizard had gone wild and he was oh-so-upset, it was because of that damn Weyrling! His eyes snapped open, though one really couldn't tell if his right eye was even open, since V'rel's greasy blonde hair covered that entire side of his face, but the annoyed look in his eye was all the same. The faint trace of a smile was completely gone as he glared over at R'kah, only Celestia being there was enough to make him get a hold of himself and not run over there and strangle the Aqua Weyrling. "It didn't die, dimglow," he snapped, "It went wild to live with the other fire-lizards in the woods," his voice was full of menace, but V'rel wasn't quite done yet, "Don't scream out like a complete moron just because one little beast went wild. You already have TWO fire-lizards PLUS a dragon," he hissed, shutting his eyes again. V'rel could not stand these sharding little Weyrlings. As if to prove V'rel's point, the Aqua burst out of between over V'rel's head, looking at his clutchsiblings, chirping at them. V'rel hissed in rage and waved his arms above his head, swatting at the lizard, who kept popping in and out of between to dodge V'rel's swipes. Kaloath rumbled in amusement, but V'rel didn't seem to notice, he was too intent on trying to whack the fire-lizard out of the air. THEN R'kah would have something to cry about. ~~~~~~ Okay, enough with V'rel, let's go back to what you REALLY wanna read. Flitter Hatching! The angry Scarlet was the first to start marching across the Sands, stomping around grumpily. In his attempt to look fearsome, he stepped on his wing, tripping and landing in the Sand. He layed there simply, but looked around, spotting the first human and immediately Impressing so he could get some... some... help. The unfortunate human happened to be T'rin, who was merely standing around and watching the Weyrlings because I can't keep up with writing three characters as well as a fire-lizard Hatching. However, T'rin knew the flitter had Impressed to him and sighed, stepping forward to retrieve the little thing before it ripped open it's own wing. Reluctantly, T'rin fed the Scarlet, he had really only come here to observe the Weyrlings (and because Alyana had dragged him here) he hadn't really wanted a fire-lizard. Oh well. So what's his name? Ophith asked curiously, snaking his head around to get a better look at the Scarlet that was eating some meat out of T'rin's hands. T'rin was trying his hardest not to get bitten. Eh... I guess I'll call him Havoc, T'rin said a bit forlornly. Roy was still missing, and T'rin desperately hoped he wasn't off in some sort of wild Flight, the Weyr probably wouldn't be able to stand any more fire-lizards. Boy was Roy going to be surprised when he saw Havoc.... Now, seeing her clutchsibling Impress, the little Silver decided that she need more attention, she wasn't getting nearly enough! They all seemed to be occupied with themselves. So she let out a few chirps, and then some more, as if she was trying to, well, sing. However, she decided that her performance would have to wait, and the little diva stalked off towards the meat being offered to her, held by C'ero. She spun around again for him before accepting the meat vigorously. The intelligent little Aqua had finished surveying the humans gathered around him, most of them offering food. His hide was a dark aqua with little spots of clear sea-green in various parts of his hide. He was perfectly proportioned. He decided on the perfect human for him, and puffed out his wings proudly before walking over to her. He had picked the best one there, of course. He took the meat that Sorcha was offering randomly around, content that he had made the right choice. After that, two eggs shook, although not at the same time like the others had. One broke open before the other, although not all the way. The top of this egg just seemed to neatly slide off, revealing a tiny little Diamond. She still sat in what remained of her eggshell, not quite ready to leave yet. She looked at the fire-lizard prospects with a childlike glance, tilting her head to the side. Her hide was a very shiny Diamond, almost rivaling a Silver's in sparkly...ness. The other egg was significantly larger than the one the Diamond had come out of, and this one broke open to reveal another Scarlet. He had some very strange markings, at his clawed paws and feet it seemed to fade to more of a yellow, giving the fire-lizard a very "firey" look. The same thing could be said for his personality, though, and he looked around with determination. He was hungry! Where was the food? He was going to find it! It seemed like the fire-lizards were all hatching at once, now. Another egg broke open to reveal a Jade, who looked around with calm eyes, scanning the crowd for any easy ways to get food. He was a deep, emerald green, and his tail was nearly twice as long as his body. That was saying something, as his body was also rather long, giving the Jade a bit of a serpentine look. Another egg revealed yet another Aqua, his hide was a clear aquamarine, the color of an extremely clean ocean. He shook off the eggshells from his body, but there was one he couldn't quite get off, and he looked at the humans, creeling for help. He couldn't reach! He couldn't reach! Maybe some kind soul out there would help him remove the offending shard? Finally, there was one egg left. It was a rather small egg, though. However, the egg shook and cracked, revealing an Onyx. He was a tiny, tiny Onyx, and his hide was the opposite of Zorro's, meaning it was black as black could get. He poked his head out of the egg, looking at the humans, dragons, and his fire-lizard siblings. He attempted to squeaze the rest of his body through the hole he had made, and he managed to fit his tiny form through, and landed in the sand. He shook himself off, looking at the humans with a playful look. Dohohoho, you thought I forgot? No, the Copper just hadn't Impressed yet, kukuku. She looked at both of the boys offering meat to her, and flicked her tail as if in thought. Um... she was kind of confused. Why were they both offering her food? Silly humans! They were really big, though. She looked back and forth before deciding to go towards the boy with the Onyx, accepting the meat greedily. (Sorry Dusky, R'kah already has two. xP)

V'lon sat watching the hatching with avid attention, eyes wide. Sure, he had seen flits before, and his father had always wanted one, but V'lon had never been to a fire-lizard hatching before. Sure, it was a lot like a normal Hatching, but it was different in many ways. With flits he could tempt the ones he found most appealing with food, and have a decent chance. Whereas with Dragons, they knew upon hatching what Theirs was supposed to be like. And, also, the flit's being able to fly was different. When the one went wild, he gasped, eyes wide with shock. But no, he had been told long ago by his father if a flit had no one to Impress to, it simply went wild. So, it was probably just enjoying being able to do as it liked, and not learning like so many of his clutch siblings were going to be soon enough.
Grinning, he watched more and more hatch, until at last the final few eggs were hatching to reveal their precious contents. His eyes followed each fire-lizard as it surveyed the crowd of people, watching in hope that one would look to him. So many just seemed to be waiting for a person to feed them. So, tentatively he offered his bit of meat again, holding it gingerly between his fingertips so if any flit would come he might not get bitten. But if he did he would just deal with it. Shaking the slimy bit of meat with a grimace, he looked between the newly hatched flits, wondering at which one he should tempt.
Really, he couldn't decide which one at all. The final few that had hatched seemed so adorable. The Jade was so serpent-like, with it's overly-long body and tail. And The Scarlet was adorable, with it's hide that almost flamed with the very same colours one would find in a fire. The shading seemed to fit it, as it's personality seemed just as bright and vicious. The Diamond was cute and sparkly. The tiny Onyx was adorable in its own strange way, being an Onyx it still held an air of power though, to him at least. And the Aqua, as his eyes fell on that one he could not help but grin again. It's hide was the same colour as the clear ocean waters. It shook off its eggshells, but a fragment remained that he seemed to want rid of very badly, and stood there looking around as if for help.
Letting out a small laugh at his own indecisiveness, he reached out as far as he could and dangled the meat between all of the flits. Whatever one picked him was fine, he was not looking for a flitter to show it off. He simply wanted a companion for himself and Leith. So he settled down, carefully watching each flit in case ti might choose him. And he could only hope he would Impress, but if he did not it would certainly not be the end of the world.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Celestia shrugged as C'ero finished speaking, and though he turned his attention to the Silver, trying to tempt her to him, she replied quietly. "That is understandable. It must be truly frustrating sometimes, having an Onyx when you yourself have such different preferences. I'm sorry if his looking at Amath bothers you. She seems to enjoy taunting him and Kaloath. I wish she wouldn't, really. It does get rather annoying, sometimes." This last bit was spoken with a half smile, and her eyes turned once again to her Bonded. Amath finally gave up taunting the Onyx's, and she was looking at her rider with concern. Before the queen spoke to her rider, Cele replied to her concerns. -It's alright, love. I know how you enjoy the attention. I am not mad at you.- Cele thought soothingly, shaking her head fractionally. She may get a little annoyed at Amath for taunting the Onyx dragons so, but she could never be mad at her Bonded, as conceited as the Silver might be sometimes.
Turning her attention back to the rest of the world as Amath took the reassurance and settled a little, simply glancing at the Onyxs every now and then, Cele just had time to see the rest of the clutch hatch. She smiled, noting how strange the colours were on these flits, and how it would make Vyrzen even more unique. Like that Scarlet, who's hide almost looked like real fire. Ah, but she was quite happy with just Jasper, so she didn't bother to tempt any of the other flits. And besides, one of her arms was now made immobile by the Jade flit as he moved onto her arm, perching there to be closer to his clutch sister, still looking at her curiously. Suddenly Jasper snorted, seemingly with draconic laughter, and and moved quickly to jab Dratini with his nose, testing to see if he could throw her off balance playfully.
Cele let out a nervous laugh, hurriedly bringing her free arm up to scratch the Jade flit some more, in an attempt to stop him from trying to play with his sister and ending up hurting her. Looking to see how Dratini had reacted to Jasper's attempt at play, Celestia was surprised to see C'ero had succeeded in tempting the Silver to him, as the tiny queen strode up, still showing off, and took the meat the Onyx Rider had offered her. "Well, looks like you've found yourself another flit. She's a showy little Silver. What are you going to call her?" The Weyrwoman asked, making a new attempt at conversation to make up for how it had gone so far.

Kisana glanced at Sh'ven and laughed. He had just Impressed to the dusky grey Onyx, and seemed to like him. Kisa was pleased with her Lillana, but she wanted another flitter, so the one would not get lonely.
"Yes, I was indeed trying to tempt one. Apparently I was successful too. That is a cute little Copper you have there. And please, don't address me as Weyrleader. I am only acting until Amath rises, and that seems like it will be soon. I may not claim the title." Kisa nodded at him gratefully, acknowledgin his Scarlet with an awkward bow. Her chest was in too much pain to make that respectful motion in extreme. She winced slightly and straightened up.
"Thank you! She is Lillana. And I meant nothing by it - you merely hold the position of Weyrleader at this time. When Amath rises, I will call the new Wyerleader as much the same. Your Minth is quite handsome today." Kisa complemented the dragon. Lilleth's eyes whirled brightly at the other dragon, bowing her head deeply at Minth and Sh'ven. These two seemed kind enough, if slightly uncomfortable in their current position. If only ... Well, this was not the time to think of such matters. There were fire-lizards to Impress!
A tiny little Onyx hatched out, pulling his whole body through a small hole in his egg. He was so small, with a hide like the deepest night. He landed in the sand, looking around playfully. This dragon seemed to be the perfect complement to both Lilleth and Lillana. She grabbed a piece of meat. Lillana was awoken by the scent of meat moving through the air near her maw, and jumped up to snatch the meat out of Kisa's hand. She laughed and tossed several chunks to her Copper flitt, then several more to Lilleth. Finally, she was able to hold a piece out to the tiny, playful Onyx.

Hearing V'rel's words, R'kah stood up angrily and stomped over to the discoverer of the clutch. He glared the Onyxrider straight in the eye, allowing Shi and Suu to perch on his shoulders and assist in the glare. "How dare you be so ... so callous? Am I not allowed to be upset when a firelizard goes to live in the dangerous woods, where many risks can take its life in an instant? Here it is safe. That firelizard would have been well-loved here. But you seem like you would be content stomping all these lives out of existence. You are ... the most insensitive sharding beast I have ever had the misfortunate of meeting!" R'kah shouted at the Onyxrider, for once allowing his emotions to rain unchecked. He raised his hand, but the two flitts stopped him before he did the unthinkable - lay a hand on a potential Weyrleader. He glared, lowered his hand, and rushed away. Gyra met him towards the exit of the Sands, but then R'kah realized what V'rel was doing - trying to kill that Aqua! It surely would have been safer in the woods!
R'kah dove back towards V'rel, reaching towards the flitter to save it. Hopefully, it would not be frightened by his actions; though if it went back to the forest, it would be all the better for it. ~For the first itme, you show anger! Gyranoth is afraid for you, Mine. You must calm down!~ Gyra communicated to him, his eyes whirling rapidly with the color of danger. R'kah ignored him for the moment, though, waiting to see what V'rel and the Aqua firelizard would do.

V'rel watched in something that was almost amusement as R'kah screamed back at him, he wasn't smiling, but his eyes shone with amusement. "You can be upset. You don't have to cry like a wherrybrain because of one fire-lizard," he said with a small smirk, finally allowing it across his face. Really, this Weyrling seemed to get upset over everything. He calmly nodded to everything R'kah said, his smirk faltering a bit, though. He didn't enjoy being insulted like this in front of half the Weyr, and the kid should know better than to insult him, given V'rel's rank. However, he took it in stride, he actually amost burst out laughing at the kid's pathetic attempts. But V'rel didn't laugh.
"Get to the point, kid," he said flatly, ignoring the insults. Really, he didn't have to scream so loud. Kaloath was getting worried, if this kid were to physically harm his rider, all Hell would break loose. He was still trying to swat the Aqua out of the air, if only to spite R'kah now. He couldn't see the "charm" in those stupid beasts. They were simply... beasts. He knew he was insensitive, etc, etc, the kid didn't have to go shouting the obvious. His eyes flashed with deadly anger as he saw R'kah raise his hand as if he was going to actually HIT him, but apparently the fire-lizards were stopping him. Well, at least they were good for something. They were helping to prevent a fight V'rel REALLY didn't want. The sharding Senior Weyrwoman was right over there!
He leaned against Kaloath again, still swatting at the annoying flitter just out of his reach, when he noticed R'kah was... coming back. His only visible eye widdened slightly as the boy ran back towards him. His eyes flashed with anger again. Mine, he's only a child- V'rel wasn't in the mood to listen to the ever-reasoning Kaloath, he was starting to get really pissed off at this kid. Who did he think he was?! Lunging back at V'rel like that, he couldn't even reach the sharding flitter! Despite his baggy clothes and deep red scarf that hid his true muscles, V'rel was actually quite strong. He wasn't a wimpy little thing, despite what his personality probably let him off as. V'rel snapped out his arm and grabbed R'kah's own arm, glaring into the boy's eyes with his one eye that wasn't hidden by his clump of blonde hair. "What do you think you're doing!?" he snapped, and the Aqua blinked between, going back into the forest. He gripped R'kah's arm not hard enough to do any damage, but enough to keep the Weyrling from running away. He was beyond angry now, this kid had tried his last shred of patience, and V'rel didn't have much to begin with.

Hearing shouting, Cele looked up from the interaction between Jasper and Dratini. Jasper was now inspecting the Silver queen with interest also, skittering around playfully still. She glanced up as R'kah's shouting reached her ears, the peaceful look of simple enjoyment leaving her face in the span of a breath, to be replaced by a look that could possibly wither half the forest. She picked up Jasper with a care that had to be difficult right now, if the anger and annoyance blooming on her face was anything to go by. Setting the poor Jade on her shoulder, she got to her feet. Jasper, sensing His about to explode at these two humans, wrapped his tail securely around Cele's neck, peeping worriedly.
Cele strode over to V'rel and R'kah with care not to accidentally step on one of the Weyrlings trying to tempt the last few flits, and came to stand right between the two, turning to glare from one to the other accusingly. Amath gave a worried rumble, finally giving up her taunting completely to watch Hers with eyes whirring concern. With skill a Weyrwoman learned at the begining of her training, Celestia reached up and grabbed both V'rel and R'kah's arms, applying pressure to V'rel's wrist in an attempt to make him let go of R'kah's arm.
Amath shuffled her wings worriedly now, carefully trying to make her way through the small crowd to Hers. And Cele, well... Cele pretty much exploded. "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING? STARTING A FIGHT AT A FIRE LIZARD HATCHING?!?! ARE YOU TWO A COUPLE OF WEYRBRATS OR ARE YOU RIDERS?!" Her temper was under hand, well sort of anyway. After all, she hadn't actually hit any of them yet, and Amath was only mildly worried, so that must be a good sign. But still, her voice was rather loud and angry. Well, that was putting it mildly. But still.
Cele bit her lip to stop from screaming at them anymore, still glaring from one to the other. Amath seemed to have taken up a ready stance, poised to protect Hers if one of the other Riders tried to hit her.

"What's wrong with me being upset? Do you have a problem with me, Rider? Why don't you just leave people alone?!" R'kah shouted at V'rel, who was still trying to swat the Aqua down. He glared at him viciously, then hissed loudly as V'rel grabbed his arm tightly. Shiro began diving at V'rel's head, jabbing out with his beak at the Rider's skull without actually making contact. Suunra growled at him from behind R'kah's head. R'kah couldn't help but smile inwardly at his flitts' loyalty. Gyranoth's eyes whirled with the most intense fear and danger the young dragon could manage.
Celestia, the Weyrleader, walked through the crowd angrily toward the two. She grabbed R'kah's free arm, applying pressure to V'rel's wrist to try to make him let go. She glared at both of them, then she - the only word was exploded. "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING? STARTING A FIGHT AT A FIRE LIZARD HATCHING?!?! ARE YOU TWO A COUPLE OF WEYRBRATS OR ARE YOU RIDERS?!" R'kah looked at her with relief. Finally, someone was trying to break up the fight. R'kah didn't really want to deal with the Onyxrider, especially not near the freshly hatched flitts, and the unhatched eggs. Gyra's eyes were slowing down slightly, though he still seemed greatly upset about the situation. The two flitts flew back to Gyranoth to save their still-slightly-damp hides.
R'kah opened his mouth, took a deep breath of fresh air, and began to explain to Celestia what had happened. "I saw that Aqua going wild out into the forest, and you can see how I would be sensitive about Aquas, with Shiro and Gyranoth there. It's rather dangerous for them out there! And then V'rel started yelling at me and trying to swat that flitt right out of the air! I know he's an Onyxrider, and high-ranking, but I just can't sit back and watch him try to snuff this innocent life like a candle! Just because he discovered them doesn't mean he's allowed to kill them! You can't look me in the eye and say that's right! I just ... I can't!" R'kah finished, breathing heavily. Gyra tottered over carefully and nuzzled His. R'kah wrapped his arms around his neck. A tear, shining aqua over Gyra's pale hide, fell from his eye. Such a rare occurence for R'kah...

Grinning like a demon, C’ero quickly ushered the Silver into his lap where he proceeded to stuff the little drama queen full of meat. She was the perfect thing to drive Sephiroth crazy with, as if little Dratini was any indication of that. She was currently cheeping playfully at Jasper, trying to get him to play with her. That one was definitely going to drive his Onyx crazy, though he had no problem with her at all. Maybe he needed a bit of oddness in his life to keep it from getting boring. The two flitters were just what he needed. They were interesting, playful, could deliver messages and keep Sephiroth company. He knew the dragon would warm up to the pair eventually even if he didn’t express it verbally. After all, he’d come to like C’ero even though he claimed he had only Impressed to keep from going between.
Creeling, the Silver sluggishly crawled up his arm and onto his shoulder, gently nosing Dratini in an attempt to get the Diamond to move over and make room. She readily complied without even looking at the Silver so intent was she on playing with Jasper. She really wasn’t concerned with her yet unnamed sister as the other flitter didn’t seem like she was going to play. Oh well…
“Well, if your sister is Dratini… I think your name will be Dragonair.” C’ero told the Sliver lightly as he ran a finger down her spine gently, bringing a gentle creel from her mouth like she was singing. He rolled his eyes and continued to pet her gently as he watched the vigorous exchange between R’kah and V’rel with most of the vigor coming from the Weyrling. Honestly, he had to agree with the other Onyxrider, though he didn’t know it. The boy was truly stating the obvious in every aspect of his argument, but that didn’t make V’rel’s cruelty right. He could have kept his mouth shut instead of egging the Weyrling on, but he had to go open his damn mouth, didn’t he?
/Of course he did, Mine./ Sephiroth replied, his voice edged with eagerness while his eyes whirled a bit more quickly. The shouting was riling him up and if things got violent, so would he. /Sephiroth, calm down. I don’t need you tearing another dragon open again./ C’ero snapped, causing the Onyx to mentally flinch only out of shock. His NEVER snapped… This was going to get good.
Once V’rel grabbed R’kah’s wrist, he felt his anger and disgust come to a boil. On a normal day, he was indifferent to V’rel, but right now, he just wanted to strangle the other Rider as quickly as he could. Sensing his heightened emotions, both Dratini and Dragonair betweened, reappearing by Sephiroth to take refuge on the Onyx’s head. Why was theirs acting so oddly? He was so nice moments ago…
Striding over to the trio of Riders, C’ero narrowed his eyes and focused them on V’rel. “On any given day you’re a tolerable bitch, but right now you’re an insufferable jackass that needs a good attitude adjustment.” He said, voice dangerously low. Sephiroth was on his feet, growling threateningly. Then, without warning, C’ero lifted his arm and punched V’rel in the nose. Hard. He didn’t look it, but he had enough strength to hold a writhing rider down and was plenty strong enough to knock someone out with a hit like that.

Of course, what V'rel hadn't expected was Celestia coming to interfere. He probably should have expected it, even if V'rel wasn't yelling, R'kah was screaming enough to wake up the entire Weyr. Sharding Weyrling. He didn't have to be so EMOTIONAL about everything, it was just a fire-lizard! The forest had MILLIONS of them, and they all seemed to be living okay. Besides, he wasn't REALLY going to kill the fire-lizard, he was merely trying to get it away from him. The boy was just overreacting and making him out to be the bad guy. Which, well, he probably was. But R'kah really had started it, he had been the one to cry over the Aqua. Stupid flitters. V'rel hated them. Why didn't he just ignore Kaloath and crush them while he had the chance?! Because you /had/ one string of intelligent thought left, Kaloath muttered at this. Things were about to get bad. But they got even worse when Celestia marched over, yelling. V'rel flinched involuntarily, he had hoped to avoid something like this. It didn't even take Celestia putting pressure on his own arm, he would have let go of R'kah the moment she approached. He resisted the urge to bow or something, figuring this wasn't the moment at all, though it probably was, considering that might have been taken as an appology. He stayed silent, though, instead of defending himself, his eyes no longer full of rage. Instead, they were rather emotionless, he was really trying hard not to show any of the tons of emotions he was feeling right now. It wasn't the right place. Instead it all got sent to Kaloath, who had long-since learned to deal with V'rel's complicated emotions. After R'kah finished whining, (V'rel had to resist the urge to punch him) he decided to say something. "I appologize, Weyrwoman. I thought he was going to hit me, so I grabbed his arm as protection," he said simply, his voice flat. It wasn't sarcastic though, as he was truely sorry, though he wasn't sure how he should put it. It was true that he believed R'kah had the intent to attack him for trying to swat the fire-lizard out of the air, but he wasn't going to whine and plead his case as much as R'kah had. But of course, it couldn't just be a simple appology. The only other Onyxrider in the entire Weyr had to come over and start yelling at him too. His eyes flashed with rage again. C'ero of all people didn't have any right to speak to him like that or even get INVOLVED. No one asked him to come defend the precious little R'kah, who was obviously too pathetic to do anything himself. His rage was beginning to rise again, though before he even had the chance to respond to what C'ero had called him, he was punched right in the nose. It came to a bit of a shock to V'rel, who was knocked off his feet and into the sand, his nose now bleeding. Kaloath hadn't responded to Sephiroth's growl, and he was actually feeling pretty embarassed. Why did V'rel have to go and cause so much commotion? They usually just kind of stayed on their own. Kaloath also couldn't help feeling a bit guilty, it had been his idea to save the fire-lizards, so this whole incident was probably his fault. He avoided Sephiroth's gaze, as well as Amath's. He reached a hand up to his now-bleeding nose, in a bit of a shock. His one visible eye was wide, then it slowly narrowed into a glare at C'ero. He was in a lot of pain, and he didn't even move from where he now sat on the sand, blood dripping down his face in streams. What was probably worse, though, was that C'ero was actually the Weyrhealer, though that thought didn't go to V'rel's mind at the moment. He had never actually thought that someone would hit him, and he had actually always assumed that he would just hit them back, but he didn't. For one, Celestia was still there, and he didn't want to make himself look like a further fool by punching C'ero back. Even if it made him look like a "wimp", he simply sat there in the Sand, holding his nose. He hoped to Faranth it wasn't broken.

Celestia thought she had the fight under control at this point. Still trembling slightly with anger at the two riders, she was slowly getting control over herself. R'kah's rant had annoyed her slightly, with him trying to blame the Onyx Rider for everything. Sure, V'rel might want to kill the flit, but he was not likely to when she was right here. He was probably just trying to get it to leave him alone. And if the flit were smart, it would have anyway. Sure, V'rel was not the nicest person sometimes, but he would not dare hurt a flit with Cele herself right here. R'kah clearly had much to learn about what was acceptable in this Weyr, and fighting was not a tolerance here. When V'rel voiced his apology, she sighed in relief, gathering her composure to give them both a stern warning and send them off.
But no, before Cele could open her mouth to speak, C'ero was there. C'ero, who she had been talking to just a moment ago and had seemed perfectly calm. For a moment she even thought he might be coming to step in and help get things under control. That thought lasted about half a second, before C'ero threw a punch, hitting V'rel square in the face and knocking the other back onto the sands. Rather than another flare of anger, shock filled Cele. What had gotten into everyone today? This fight had no meaning or purpose. A flit had gone wild and this was what happened? Had everyone lost their minds? Shaking her head, she stepped between C'ero and V'rel now, completely ignoring R'kah. The Weyrling may be annoying, but the two full Onyx Riders were going to be more of a problem.
Amath had had enough now, and had shoved her way over to confront the Onyx's while the Hers dealt with their Riders. The great Silver looked from one Onyx to the other, eyes whirring with anger. Kaloath seemed fine, but she snapped at him as a warning to stay there. Then the Queen turned on Sephiroth, watching him. She was not about to attack either of these Onyx's, yet anyway.
Celestia glanced at her Bonded for a moment, glad to have the Silver here with her now. Then she rounded on C'ero. "What has gotten into you? What had gotten into all of you? V'rel just APOLOGIZED and you go and punch him! What good does that do? He was APOLOGIZING! For Faranth's sake, can't you just leave well enough alone?" She ranted, hands shaking as if she wanted to punch the Weyr Healer herself now. Jasper gave a worried chirp from where he was clinging to her neck, eyes whirring concern.

Blinking, C’ero flinched as though he had been punched himself. He felt oddly detached at the moment as though he wasn’t in control of his body. Maybe he hadn’t been completely in control. After all, he had a worked up Sephiroth to deal with and two flitters… Still, he couldn’t fully understand why he had slapped V’rel. Yes, the man deserved it, but that didn’t mean he had actually wanted to hit him, especially once he had calmed down to a degree. That had been completely unnecessary, so why had he hit the other Onyxrider?
Hissing softly at Amath, Sephiroth backed down after a moment. He knew who was boss even if he didn’t want to acknowledge it. In any case, he had to tend to His. Somehow someone had just landed a blow on his Rider, even if it wasn’t physical. Someone was going to pay… He hissed again, this time at V’rel, scaring Dratini and Dragonair both. Between the Onyx and his rider, they seemed to decide at once that it would be safer to perch on C’ero’s shoulders instead of on the homicidal Sephiroth’s head. Curling their tails around the Weyrhealer’s neck, the crooned worriedly in his ear.
Jerking slightly as though he had been broken from a trance, C’ero blinked again and looked at V’rel, then at Celestia. “I don’t know what’s gotten into me.” He replied, still distant. He looked at his knuckles, which were red, both from the impact with V’rel’s nose and the blood flecked on his skin. Under normal circumstances he would have promptly cleaned the blood from his hand, but now he just sort of… stared. It was odd, feeling this detached, but maybe it came with being a Rider.
/Mine?/ Sephiroth asked hesitantly as he nudged his rider worriedly. This truly seemed to snap C’ero out of it. Shaking his head, he sighed and, after wiping the blood on his shirt, humbled himself enough to say, “I’m sorry about that. I haven’t a clue what came over me, not that it excuses my actions…” He told V’rel with as much dignity as he could muster, though he could tell Sephiroth was dying a little on the inside. That bitch didn’t deserve it… /Will you STOP that?/ C’ero ordered tiredly to the Onyx. Returning his attention to V’rel, he added, “If you’d like, I could bandage your nose.” He finished, feeling quite silly indeed. Almost as an afterthought, he tossed a piece of meat to the last Diamond before politely excusing himself from Celestia and V’rel, Dratini and Dragonair cooing in his ears.
“If this doesn’t get me kicked out of the Weyr, I don’t know what else will.” He muttered to himself as he waited a ways off to see if the Diamond took the bait. Either way, he would be leaving quite shortly.
/Mine?/ Sephiroth asked again, this time more out of concern for the boy. However, he was met with a terse silence that he easily reciprocated. If that was the way he was going to play, fine by him.

V'rel didn't move as Celestia yelled in his defense, well, sort of. He still sat there holding his bleeding nose, though he felt his face start to grow red everytime she said "appologize". Yes, he had appologized, but did she have to keep SAYING it? V'rel still had his pride, and it was really starting to hurt. He could barely even remember why he had started the fight in the first place, his nose was in a lot of pain and his head was still slightly spinning. He could barely hear Celestia, though he knew she was angry at C'ero now. Well, at least she had taken some of the blame off him, though with his submissive pride V'rel still felt bad. C'ero had a good reason to punch him, and V'rel knew it would happen sooner or later anyway.
Kaloath flicked his tail, trying to think of a way to calm both of the angry dragons down. Amath, Sephiroth, really, he said weakly, but gave up. If they wanted to growl at each other, then go ahead. Sephiroth had backed down, and Kaloath was felt very relieved that he had not been involved in their little hissy fit. Still, even Kaloath growled threateningly as Sephiroth had the nerve to hiss at his RIDER, who had been sitting there in the sand because he was BLEEDING. V'rel merely stared at the Onyx dragon that hissed at him, not moving from where he sat in the hand with his blood nose. The blood was stopping, but it still hadn't completely stopped, and it was still gushing pretty bad. V'rel wasn't scared, or maybe he was just delusional because of all the blood loss. Deciding that it was finally time to actually do something about his nose, he stood up as C'ero began to appologize. His one visible pale gold eye, just simply staring. He really had no comment, he still hated C'ero with a passion. But still... he kind of wished that C'ero would hit him again. Kaloath picked up on these... rather strange thoughts and had absolutely no comment. Well, Kaloath had always assumed his rider was not quite there all of the time, but this was ridiculous. Still, the thought was forgotten as C'ero began to walk off. After a bit of silence, V'rel sighed heavily, his eye still showing no emotion. "I could use some assistance here," he said, his voice still flat. C'ero had offered to fix up his nose and then just walked off? There weren't any other Healers around, and V'rel didn't want his nose to heal in an odd position that would give him trouble for the rest of his life. It had been a very hard punch, V'rel hadn't been expecting it at all. Well, he sort of did. The blood wasn't gushing as much as it was at first, but there was still a steady trickle of blood, and V'rel wasn't quite sure just how much blood he could handle losing. He was starting to feel a bit dizzy, and Kaloath was trying to use that an excuse as to why V'rel wanted C'ero to hit him again. He was just delusional, really. There was nothing to worry about, V'rel was just suffering from a bit of blood loss! Were all humans this strange? ~~~~~~ Well, the fire-lizards certainly weren't disturbed with the drama within the higher ups, they were merely interested in food. The tiny Onyx was the first to decide where he wanted to go, and he stumbled weakly across the Sands, trying to find something interesting and worthy of his short attention span. He eventually decided on Talitha and ran towards her, tripping over his own tiny wings and barely keeping his balance. He looked up at her with his whirling eyes that begged sweetly for food. The little serpentine Jade was the next to figure out what he wanted, and "slithered" over to Sh'ralik, his short legs making it harder to walk in the sand. He still managed to make it to the Onyx Weyrling, looking up at him with a bit of a sly look, or as much of a sly look as a fire-lizard could manage. He would be a sneaky one, and he was not above stealing food when he was hungry. His hide was a deep green color, and he fluttered his wings, attempting to balance up on his hind legs. The Aqua squealed in turmoil as he saw his siblings leave him, none of them were going to remove the shard from his back! It was starting to dig into his hide, and it hurt! He had a very low tolerance for anything painful, and this hurrttt. With a whining creel he stumbled across the Sands, searching for someone who looked kind enough to remove the offending shard from his back. If only he could reach it himself! But alas, he could not, so he had to settle for the next best thing. And that was V'lon, who just happened to be offering food. But the little sea-green Aqua wasn't interested in food, what he really wanted was for V'lon to try and get the shard out from between his wings, it really really hurt! The Diamond had seemed to take a bit of a liking to her Aqua clutchbrother, and had been watching him from her eggshells, a bit like a schoolgirl watching her crush from behind a building. She looked around nervously though, not wanting any of her clutchsiblings to know, otherwise they might try to hurt him! She had the feeling that they just didn't like her, because no one liked her! She was just so pretty, they were all jealous of her sparkly hide. However, seeing the Aqua Impress, she let out a weak squeal, knocking over what was left of her hiding place and falling into the sand. Shaking herself off, she ran after the Aqua, Impressing to V'lon also. She managed to take the shard from the Aqua's back, holding it up for V'lon to see her heroic act. Then get food, of course. The Scarlet stayed where he was, eyeing the fire-lizard candidates cooly. His flame-colored hide reflected oddly in the light, but he didn't move. He couldn't find anyone to Impress to, there just seemed to be no one he wanted to go to. Ruffling his wings indignantly he slumped down in the Sand, waiting for something to come along and interest him before he followed his Aqua sibling off into the wild.

Sh'ralik felt a brief surge of delight when the Copper chose him, along with an equally fleeting flash of remorse at "taking" the little creature from R'kah. Then he inhaled sharply in panic, his hand jerking away from the plump caramel hatchling as she greedily ate his meat. The quick motion startled her, and she uttered a surprised peep! Weyrling and fire-lizard stared at each other for a moment before Creeth intervened on behalf of the baffled, hungry critter– if one could attribute his intentions to such. ~Well, are you going to feed that thing or let it starve? You did go through all that trouble of getting it in the first place.~ The Onyx grumbled, tilting his head to eye the flit appraisingly. Sh'ralik jumped and grabbed more hunks of food, carefully dangling them over the Copper and half-dropping, half-placing them into her open maw. 'What do you think?' He asked Creeth, his light gaze not moving from the feeding flitter. Luckily, her full attention at the moment was on gulping down each and every scrap he held, and not on moving about or trying to climb up onto him. ~She'll do, I suppose...~
Trailing off, the young Onyx turned his attention to the commotion unfolding between first R'kah and V'rel, then the three highest-ranking Riders at Vyrzen. Sh'ralik merely listened, keeping his watchful gaze on the Copper lest she take a swipe at his hand to ensure he wouldn't forget she wasn't finished yet. That was hardly about to happen. His thumping heart was just slowing– why was this so much more... stressful? agitating?... than the dragon Hatching a mere sevenday ago?– when he noticed with considerable surprise that one of the other hatchlings, a Jade whose body almost appeared elongated and stretched, was weaving his way unswervingly toward the Weyrling. Oh no, Faranth– please– surely it wasn't– he actually lurched backwards, almost losing his balance and landing flat on his rear on the hot ground. Almost. As it was one flailing arm almost upset his bowl of meat while the other slapped against Creeth's ebony hide, steadying him. "Ah..." He faltered weakly, staring dumbstruck at the sly little Jade. Two? But he hadn't even been...
~It might be a good idea to give that one food before he tries to make a meal of your hand, Mine.~ Creeth prompted, eyeing the peculiar, sinuous second hatchling with a mix of curiosity and distaste. Sh'ralik flinched and withdrew his outflung hand, redirecting the cringing motion into a quick snatch at a fresh handful of meat. Giving a new piece to the Copper he eyed the Jade as if hoping it would lose interest and wander off to someone else... no one else was paying much attention to it, though, now that it had apparently chosen who it wanted. Indeed, his delay in feeding the serpentine creature backfired when it simply stretched its long neck out, darting at the Copper faster than he'd thought it could move, and tearing the tasty tidbit from her claws before she could eat it herself. She creeled and twittered offendedly at the Jade, who merely hissed at her before turning his demanding gaze on the Onyx Weyrling.
Sh'ralik glanced at Creeth, then back down at the two flitters before him. With some trepidation he gave in and fed the Jade. Satisfied at the moment, the carmel hatchling made her way to him and placed one forefoot on his knee, inspecting his kneeling position while she tried to determine whether or not she could make it up and fit comfortably along the groove where his legs pressed together. The boy made the decision for her by firmly nudging her to one side, offering a final piece of meat to appease her as she settled instead atop the outspread edge of his shirt. Glancing from her to the Jade, he carefully diverted the second fire-lizard from attempting the same stunt. Once the three of them– he too, unfortunately, had to be included– had sufficiently calmed down he was able to take a moment to watch the two flits settle. The Copper's stuffed figure now closer resembled a small ball with odd protrusions than anything capable of movement, much less flight. She cheeped as her dark emerald clutchbrother partially shoved himself between her and Sh'ralik, insinuating himself into the more enclosed spot for a nap. Sh'ralik tentatively reached out with a finger to stroke the hide of first one, then the other, speaking as he did so. "Carina," he named the Copper, "and Synn." He blinked, fingertip resting on the Copper's distended belly. For him, the words seemed to hang with a weight of finality in the air, making it indisputably real. He'd landed himself with two flitters, completely unintentionally. A short exhalation directly behind him was his only warning before Creeth was angling his sable head over his shoulder, peering at the sleepy hatchlings. ~Kivath could be right,~ he conceded after a moment. ~They might prove to be useful. Eventually.~

V'lon jumped in surprise as the two flits scurried up to him, the Aqua begging to have the shard removed from his back, the Diamond following her clutchbrother like a school girl with a crush. The little Diamond picked off the Shard for the Aqua when V'lon failed to do so, frozen with surprise for a moment. Then he burst out laughing, which was odd for V'lon. Apparently three different sets of emotions, besides his, rushing into his mind all at once was too much. Leith was just as surprised as his Bonded, as the two flit minds suddenly joined with theirs, and the excitement and joy of the Diamond, along with the Confusion and hunger from the Aqua, sent their mind into turmoil for a moment.
After a moment V'lon got his mind under control, suppressing some of the emotions flowing from the two flits and Leith. He shook his head, grinning, and gave both flits a bit of meat. Cheeps of joy and thanks were given to him as the flits stuffed themselves on meat, and Leith ventured over to investigate the two little ones. -What shall you call them, Mine?- He asked V'lon curiously, eyeing the flits and sniffing at them. The Diamond had abandoned her food for the moment to investigate this larger version of her kind as well, but the Aqua was hurriedly eating, afraid this big creature would eat his food.
V'lon shrugged, watching the flits carefully for a moment. -I think I shall call the Diamond Alona, and the Aqua will be Hinto.- He said, after a moment of thought. The Aqua looked up at V'lon as he spoke to Leith, understanding that was to be his name. He cheeped a brief approval before going back to stuffing himself, while the Diamond, seemingly finished with her food, fluttered up to perch on Leith's back, preening happily.
Leith rumbled approval of the two flits. They might be small and annoyingly hyper sometimes, but he found it nice to now have two companions that were a smaller version of his own kind.

Amath gave a last huff of indignation as the final bout of complaining was given and C'ero walked off. She glared after Sephiroth, angry that the two Onyx's would interupt a hatching with a fight, of all things! She would not have this now. It may only be a flit hatching, but if they were willing to fight now who was to say they wouldn't fight at a normal hatching as well? And She would not let any risk come to any of her future clutches. She shuffled her wings, looking down at her rider, who was standing rod straight with her arms crossed, glaring at C'ero.
Cele shook her head and left out a sigh, turning to gaze back at her bonded. She shrugged. Sometimes the Onyx riders got on her nerves so. And now the thought was tickling at the back of her mind.... Who would Amath choose when she rose? It was becoming ever more obvious that the Queen was due to rise soon. With such limited choice in the Onyx's, which would she choose? Either way, Cele would not have much say in that. Shoving the thought away, for she knew worrying about it would only make it worse, she reached up to give Jasper a scratch. The Jade flit had settled on her shoulders with his tail curled around her neck, cooing reassurances in her ear.
The Silver Rider sighed again and turned to glance at V'rel as he got up and called after C'ero for help with his nose. Well, at least after the brief fight they were back to tolerating each other. That was good. Amath moved now, getting out of the way of the crowd of people still gathered around the empty flit shells, caring for their new flits. She got as far away from them as she could, and settled to the warm sands, watching the Onyx's yet again.
Cele grinned then. Amath was back to her usual self, watching the two Onyx dragons. The Silver had been doing that more and more often lately, sizing them up. Soon enough she would Rise, and they would have a real Weyrleader, so Sh'ven could go back to sulking in peace. She knew he hated the responsibility, but he took it on. It was something a brother might do as a favor for his sister. It was a wonder they were not related.
She moved away, going back to her seat beside Sh'ven, who was busily scratching his new flit's chin. Zorro seemed content to stay curled up with His, now that he was stuffed to bursting. Sh'ven looked up as she sat down and grinned at her. "The look on your face is telling me you want to punch something right now." he laughed. Zorro gave a cheep and slowly got up to sniff curiously at Jasper, perched still on Cele's shoulders.
A curt nod was all the response Sh'ven got from Cele, as she settled to the sand and turned her attention on the two Onyx Riders, watching in case any more trouble broke out. She would be up and over there in a second if she saw one of them so much as glare at the other. Sh'ven simply turned his attention back to Zorro. Cele was not about to joke around with him right now.
