V'rel was walking through the flitter sands nochalantly, looking for any spare egg shells. He actually quite enjoyed collecting them, they were very pretty.... Frowning at his own stupid thoughts, he continued through the Sands, more likely looking for a clutch to smash. Usually there wasn't anything on the Flitter Sands though, as most wild fire-lizards prefered other places. Well, that was good, as if they had a clutch here V'rel would most likely smash it. He was feeling rather violent today, and felt like breaking a few things. Eggs made a nice crunching sound.... Kaloath wasn't saying anything from where he was perched, watching his rider wander around the Flitter Sands aimlessly. V'rel's extremely messy blonde hair was covering his right eye as it usually did, and it was messier than usual, getting sand in it from V'rel kicking up the sand as he walked. He was probably going to have to wash it soon....
Eventually, V'rel spotted something strange. A clutch of 20 glittering eggs were right in the middle of the Sands, with no Queen in sight. An abandoned clutch? Perfect for him to take out his frustration on! V'rel wasn't sure why he was frustrated, though it probably had something to do with the sharding hatchlings. He hated Hatchings, they were extremely annoying. V'rel didn't much like anything, except smashing things, really. He could probably use something to crush right now, and these eggs were really tempting. Mine, please don't! Kaloath finally said, landing next to V'rel, nearly knocking the Onyxrider off his feet. "Why not?" he snapped at the dragon, not bothering to look up from the eggs. It's mean, Kaloath said, as if V'rel actually cared about being mean. However, the Onyx with all of his fatherly instinct covered the eggs with a wing, preventing V'rel from crushing them. Through the wing membranes V'rel saw one of them twitch, then another, then another. "Sharding... they're going to hatch, Kaloath!" he hissed in rage, but didn't bother trying to move Kaloath's giant wing, it would be useless. So? V'rel really did not want to Impress 20 fire-lizards. He didn't even like fire-lizards!
"You'd better let the rest of the Weyr know, because if I Impress even one of those little beasts I'm going to rip it's wings off one by one and then it's leg-" To all those in the Weyr interested, fire-lizards are hatching at the Flitter Sands! Come if you wish to Impress one! And bring your own meat, Kaloath said quickly, cutting off his rider's vivid description of what he would do to a fire-lizard. Kaloath moved his wing away carefully, though V'rel wasn't going to crush the eggs anymore. If no one came to Impress the flitters, he'd crush them. But if they did, then whatever. Still, he couldn't help but glare down at the eggs with the one eye that wasn't covered by his mop of blonde hair.
Eventually people would come, and that just made V'rel sulk more. Really, he prefered to be by himself, being the loner that he was. Still, he felt part of his heart leap at the idea of seeing some other people for once, and maybe even getting some friends so he wouldn't be so lonely- no, V'rel. Stop being stupid. Mine.... Kaloath interupted V'rel's mental fight with himself, and the Onyxrider sulked, crossing his arms and leaning against Kaloath. "Those morons had better get here soon, those eggs are going to Hatch pretty soon," he snapped, back to his original, spiteful self. Most of the people there would probably be the new Weyrlings, so respect was not something on V'rel's mind at the moment. He was in more of a foul mood that he usually was, since Kaloath hadn't let him smash the eggs into bits of goo and eggshell.
There were about 20-some eggs total, with one brightly colored Queen egg. The eggs were all shapes and sizes, and quite a few were starting to shake. Kaloath was settled a bit behind the eggs, his large form trying to stay out of the way, as he didn't want to crush the eggs, unlike V'rel, who was glaring at the eggs while leaning against the Onyx. V'rel also hoped that whoever wanted a fire-lizard brought their own meat, as V'rel sure wasn't going to supply it for them. As much as he enjoyed raw meat, as it did taste pretty good, once you got over the disgusted look of those around you, he didn't feel much like going to get some. The Flitter Sands were pretty out of the way, really.
So now the two of them were waiting, though V'rel was halfheartedly hoping that no one would show up. He had been looking forward to crushing some lizards. Maybe an unfortunate little thing would find it's way over to him and Impress, though if that happened he doubted Kaloath would let him do anything to it. That was annoying. Sharding dragon, never let him do anything. If only he hadn't been so big... he got in the way all the time. Kaloath listened in on V'rel's thoughts, but he knew that his rider didn't mean it. Deep down, V'rel was happy for the company, even if he would never admit it to anyone. Still, Kaloath didn't doubt that V'rel hadn't meant what he said about smashing the eggs. He sure hoped people would come soon, Kaloath really did like fire-lizards....
ooc: Okay, some specifics. Your dragons should hear Kaloath's message and tell their riders. If your character doesn't have a dragon, then hear it from some drudges hurrying to get meat to the Flitter Sands or something. New Weyrlings can bring their dragonets, and it's about a week or so after the Hatching. T'rin hasn't started Weyrling lessons yet, he's waiting to give the new Weyrlings some time to adjust before he starts. You can bring your other characters besides Weyrlings here if you want, as there are 20 eggs and I'm not Impressing V'rel any 'cause he means what he says about killing them. xD

R'kah sat beside his Gyranoth in the shade of a cliff, watching the clouds float across the sky. Gyranoth purred happily as he ate the small pieces of meat provided for dragonets who could not yet hunt. Suddenly, Gyranoth raised his head, eyes swirling excitedly. ~Kaloath says that there's a clutch of fire-lizards on the Flitter Sands! There will be people there...but you will be there too! You will protect me! We can get a little fire-lizard for me to be friends with!~ Gyranoth told him in his chimelike voice. R'kah stood up immediately and grabbed the large bowl of meat, which was still mostly full. The two of them ran to the Flitter Sands, talking animatedly to each other as they headed towards the Sands.
When they arrived, they saw the Onyx Kaloath curled up behind the ggs, his rider V'rel glaring angrily at the eggs. Gyranoth's mind told him to run away, but R'kah reassured him with a smile. The eggs were currently still, not shuddering or cracking quite yet. They were the first ones there besides the two who had discovered the eggs, so there was still time.

Kisa was sprawled out on her bed, her stitches aching slightly. The wounds were starting to heal, though they still burned and stung at any irritation. She slept with her dress tied around her waist, without any covers, so she wouldn't rub cloth across the gashes. Bandages were wrapped tightly around her entire torso, though. That helped a lot. Lilleth was resting in her cave, but when Kisana stirred, so too did Lilleth. Kisa struggled to a sitting position. She wasn't supposed to overexert herself or move too fast for several weeks, until C'ero removed the stitches.
That little Onyx says that there are Fire-lizards on the Sands. Should we go? Lilleth doesn't want you to get hurt again. What if the little Flitters hurt you? Lilleth doesn't want to lose you again. Lilleth heard you scream, and it was terrible, just terrible! Lilleth worried to Kisana, her eyes whilring with confusion, excitement, and happiness. Kisa nodded happily. We should go, love. You could use some company while I'm ... incapacitated. Kisa told her dragon as she stood up awkwardly. She grabbed a simple golden shift out of her wardrobe and slid it on carefully, and she left the belt loose.
The two of them walked slowly out of Kisa's weyr. Kisana leaned on Lilleth's side for support as they made their way to the Flitter Sands. She had grabbed a large bowl of meat on the way, per Kaloath's instructions. When they arrived, several people were already present. Kisa ignored them all, however, shuffling into a safe portion of the Sands to avoid possible flailing flitters, while still allowing her acess to the clutch.

~SyllaMine, Kaloath says there's a fire-lizard clutch hatching right now. You're to bring your own meat if you're going.~ The voice of her lavender brought Sylla leaping to her feet from her comfortable resting spot against the side of her young dragon. The two were lying outside in the sun, out of the way of most of the Weyr activity. Her message dutifully reported, Bitrath continued to speak. ~Do you really want to go, Mine? Is your Bitrath not enough for you? You don't like her very much?~ The worried flurry of questions evoked a short burst of giggles before the brown-haired girl crouched and wrapped both arms around the lavender's head.
"Of course I like you, Bitrath. I love you!" She sent a strong burst of emotions through their bond– a trick she was becoming quite good at, with all the practice reassuring her dragon had given her. -Nothing could ever replace you, dear.- Sylla told Bitrath firmly. -I've always wanted a flit. I never dreamed I'd have you. You'll always come first, don't fret about that. No little cousin of yours is going to separate us.- Only Hers could draw such open declarations of attachment from Sylla, even if they were silently admitted in mindspeech. She wasn't necessarily shy, she just... wasn't very good at expressing such strong emotions. The young dragon's eyes slowly resumed their slow whirl of green. If the color was tinted slightly with yellow, well, that was all right as long as her Bitrath didn't think she was trying to replace the needsome little thing. Bitrath wasn't so little anymore, though she was definitely smaller than many of her clutchsiblings.
"Come on, you can watch too," Sylla coaxed lightly. The Purple rose slowly to her feet, watching Sylla carefully. Perceiving that, despite how much she'd have liked to Impress a flit, the girl wasn't about to run off without Bitrath's acceptance, if not approval, the dragon calmed completely. Sylla smiled. No flitter was worth losing her Bitrath; besides, they were in the South– fire-lizard clutches were practically everywhere! It was just a matter of finding them. "Wait... did you say Kaloath told you?" Kaloath... whose rider was V'rel?! Sylla hadn't seen the Onyxrider too often, but he didn't seem too friendly. Almost as likely to hurt the flits as help them, she thought. At least, that was the vibe she got off the man.
Picking up on her concern, Bitrath increased her pace, half-extending her wings to aid her steadily improving balance. Sylla rushed into the kitchens, leaving her Purple to croon softly at the entrance as she waited for her Mine to fetch some meat. Heedless of her obstructing presence, or the distractions she was causing by being there, Bitrath tried to crane her neck far enough to shove her head through the door and peer inside. The hatchling wasn't nearly big enough for the task to prove futile, though she did cause quite a few surprised cries from those less-used to dragons poking their heads into human dwellings.
Meat fetched, dragon soothed, the weyrling pair then hurried off. Sylla caught sight of Gyranoth's aqua form rounding a corner ahead, and she gratefully followed him to the Flitter Sands. That was one place she hadn't yet figured out how to get to, and this time she didn't want to be late. Rushing up to the clutch, Sylla dropped the two buckets she'd brought– one being a spare for anyone's use– and sidled up into place, casting an ill-concealed, wary glance at V'rel. Surely he wouldn't try to harm any of the tiny flitters, not with witnesses there now! Or Kaloath for that matter. "Hi R'kah," she greeted, giving the other weyrling a quick smile.

Fate seemed to be giving C’ero a break, as the Healer was doing absolutely nothing. He was spending his spare time leaning against Sephiroth’s warm hide as the dragon dozed, scribbling down poetry as the Onyx slept. It was incredibly rare for him to have time to do something like this, but when he did, he tried to enjoy it as much as he could. He loved spending time doing a whole lot of nothing, just as his dragon did, and it was rare for them to be able to do anything together, even if it was just sitting around doing nothing. Suddenly, Sephiroth’s eye opened and he fell completely still for a moment before stretching his great neck, yawning widely. /Kaloath says there is a clutch of fire lizards down on the sands and to bring meat. What do you think, Mine?/ To be honest, the Onyx was quite opposed to the idea. His time with his rider was already short and he didn’t want to have to divide that time any more with a dozen flitters. However, His always wanted one or two to deliver messages. One or two he could deal with, just not a whole troupe.
As if sensing Sephiroth’s objection, C’ero turned to look his dragon in the eye. “Do you mind?” He asked, waiting to hear the dragon’s verdict. He’d hate for Sephiroth to feel unloved, not that something like that was possible, but still… Snorting, the Onyx finally replied, /Only one or two, no more. Choose carefully./ He ordered, hauling himself to his feet as C’ero ran off to get the meat that needed to be brought if he was to Impress. He could live with Sephiroth’s terms, of course. He only wanted one or two just to deliver messages, as they’d just get in his way otherwise. He wasn’t long in his errand and easily vaulted onto the dragon’s back after he had crouched down. Before he had even seated himself Sephiroth was off, tearing at the sky as he did during Threadfall. Why he wanted to get there so quickly, C’ero didn’t know, but he didn’t mind the haste as Sephiroth set his own pace in flight.
They were at the flitter sands soon enough. As he landed, Sephiroth made sure to kick up a lot of dust just to annoy V’rel. He’d made it his mission in life to annoy the other Onyxrider as his made no move to stop him. It was rather funny how pathetic the pair was, at least in his mind, as Kaloath was not a proper Onyx. At any rate, they were the only two Onyx dragons in the Weyr right now and, as par Sephiroth’s nature, he was going to size any others up.
“Hello, V’rel.” C’ero offered politely to the other rider, his sack of meat in hand. He had definitely come prepared with extra meat as he knew there would be a Weyrling or twelve who didn’t bring any. Silly children… As he waited for V’rel to reply, he watched Sephiroth lay down in the sand nearby, eyes whirling in amusement.

"What?!" The pale-orange haired boy looked around. Sure enough, there was a small stream of people making their way toward the flitter sands. A flit hatching, now that would be great! Just the thing he needed... finally, he'd be able to actually try to make a choice, actively attempt to draw the little critters toward him instead of waiting on the Sands; waiting for another to make the decision for him, about him. He wasn't too good with that. No, he preferred to be in the thick of things, regardless of what might happen because of it. That was better than running off and hiding in some dark stony corner, anyway.
Light, misty blue eyes tracked a weyrling pair heading to the flit hatching. The youth nodded once, fixing the position in his mind. He'd wandered around the Weyr in his spare time, so he was relatively certain he knew where most of the places were– all the important ones, definitely– though he'd never really seen any need to visit the flitter sands before. Now was as good a time as any, however. Better, even. Flits! Sure, the lesser colors were generally seen as nuisances, but all that meant was he'd have to try to lure a few of the more esteemed ones his way. To do that he'd have to have meat. Plenty of meat. So soon after the dragon clutch's hatching, the kitchen staff were kept busy nearly all hours of the day chopping meat for the hungry weyrlings to eat, so he doubted the stuff would be in short supply. He'd just have to acquire some.
Reaching the kitchen he found that word was quickly spreading, even to those without a handy dragon to relay the message. Buckets and bowls were being shoved full with chunks of meat as quickly as the already-cut food could be sliced smaller, small enough for the tiny hatchlings to safely swallow. A couple of prepared buckets waited close to the doorway and he grabbed one and took off, waving at the few who recognized and greeted him. Soon enough he was strolling into the flitter sands with his bucket, the sight of several weyrling dragons and Vyrzen's two fully-grown Onyx meeting him. Nodding to the others he grabbed a decent spot and plunked his bucket down on the sand. All right, so now he just had to wait a little longer... well, from the sight of those little rocking eggs he wouldn't have to be patient for more than a few minutes. Maybe less, if he was lucky. The youth grinned.

V'rel had been glaring angerly at the eggs for quite some time, as if his mere glare could destroy them. Of course, that obviously wasn't the case, since the eggs were still shaking rapidly, they were going to hatch soon. He was mentally cursing, he did NOT want to Impress any sharding fire-lizards, so those stupid Weyrlings had better get down here soon. Or whoever else wanted some, though be bet it would be mostly Weyrlings. What full-grown rider in their right mind would actually want one of those things? Kaloath refused to comment on those thoughts, as he thought that a fire-lizard would do his rider some good... provided V'rel didn't rip the wings off the poor thing. On second thought, maybe that wasn't such a good idea.
However, V'rel did look up to spot an Aqua Weyrling approach, bringing his dragonet with him. V'rel didn't bother to say hello or even look at the boy for more than a second. As long as there were people coming he didn't care who they were. This was probably going to make it harder to smash the fire-lizards should one Impress to him, but it's not like V'rel cared if people saw his violent temper. Afterall, most of the Weyr already knew him for a sulky, violent loner, so it's not like they'd be surprised.
He did notice the Purple Weyrling (Sila or something? V'rel didn't really care much for her name) give him a rather wary glance, and he couldn't help the demonic smile that spread across his face. Ridermine, you really shouldn't act that way around the younger Weyrlings, you're starting to scare them, the ever-considerate Kaloath shifted his position, looking over at the Weyrlings. V'rel just snickered, but his demonic smile dropped back to it's usual annoyed look. He was just waiting for these stupid eggs to hatch so he could leave, as Kaloath had made it clear he wasn't going to leave until it was over. Whatever, it was better than sitting around in his weyr bored. He got to scare some Weyrlings, what could be more fun than that?
His rather amused mood was ruined though, as C'ero decended with Sephiroth. Great, those two. V'rel really had a strong dislike for both rider and dragon, as they were always trying to annoy him, and it worked. V'rel was very easily annoyed, really. Of course, V'rel generally was rather obedient and submissive around those of a higher rank, but C'ero was the same as he was, an Onyxrider. Weyrhealer, Wingsecond, it didn't matter, they were still the same rank anyway. Besides, V'rel didn't respect C'ero at all, and a man has to have his sense of pride. Kaloath didn't particularly like Sephiroth, as Kaloath didn't really like arrogance much at all.
"C'ero," V'rel simply said. The sand that Sephiroth had kicked up made his hair look even dirtier than it usually was, and now he was sure he was going to have to wash it. Great, he hated getting his hair wet. V'rel was mentally cursing out the other Onyxrider, but he just kept his simple, slightly annoyed expression on his face, not wanting the other rider to see his extreme annoyance. Oh how he despised them....
~~~~
While V'rel was distracted with hating C'ero, the eggs began to shake. A bright purple colored egg, one of the largest in the clutch, shook first, cracks appearing like lines down its side. The little flitter inside seemed to be having a bit of trouble getting out of the egg, and it shook rapidly. It finally shook itself so fast that it slammed into another egg of the clutch, and both of them burst open in a sort of explosion.
The two dragonets were rather tangled when the dust cleared, and they had eggshells all over them. The first one to come to her senses was a little Copper, the one who had emerged from the purple egg. She seemed to be a lot smaller than most would think from her egg, but she was an assertive little thing, immediately shoving her Jade brother off of her. The Jade was dazed and confused, all he really understood was that he was hungry. Very, very hungry. He began to creel pitifully, only to reveal in a smack from his Copper clutchsister. She then stormed off, as if this stupid Jade was none of her business anymore. All he had been useful for was to help her break open her egg, that was it! Useless, useless! But alas, she was hungry. The little Copper marched across the Sands, looking around for some meat, sniffing the air.
The Jade was still sitting in a confused mess on the Sands, though now he thought it was his fault that his sister had hit him, even if he wasn't sure what he did, but he knew it was his fault. Still, he layed in his confused form and creeled for food, he really was very hungry.
Another egg shook, and this one split in a neat two halves, revealing a Scarlet. His hide was a very bright red, looking almost pink. He neatly went to inspect his eggshells curiously, climbing into the half of his egg and chirping, looking at the fire-lizard Candidates suspiciously. He really was very hungry though, but he couldn't see any food....
Alyana and T'rin had been lounging around carelessly, Alyana had been trying to get in as much relaxing time as possible before Weyrling Lessons, and she had been a bit lonely with just herself and Kivath, so she dragged T'rin along. Besides, being on his good side meant she didn't have to do as many chores! Or at least, Alyana figured that was what it meant, though you never knew with T'rin. So the two of them were simply lazying about around outside. Alyana had recently oiled Kivath, so her hide was nice and shiny. Roy had taken an interest in Kivath, and the two had instantly clicked, and Roy was laying on her head, curled up on her head. T'rin was laying on Ophith, so he wasn't really close to the other three, but that was okay. They were just relaxing, Alyana wasn't really in the mood for talking either.
They had been laying about for around an hour or so, when Kivath's eyes suddenly whirled. Mine, Mine! Kaloath says theres a fire-lizard Hatching! Kivath said excitedly, her eyes still whirling. Roy jumped up and flew up to T'rin, excited at the prospect of other fire-lizards around for him to bother. Vyrzen didn't have many flitters, for some odd reason. T'rin hopped down off Ophith, warily looking at Alyana and Kivath. "Having a dragon is a lot of responsibility, are you sure you want to have to take care of a fire-lizard too?" T'rin felt he should warn her, as he was planning on being a really strict Weyrling Master. ...yeah, okay. Alyana snickered, "I'll deal with it. Come on!" she declared, and took off towards the Kitchens to snag some meat before heading over. T'rin sighed and followed, Ophith rumbling in amusement.
A little while later, Alyana and Kivath were walking towards the Sands alone, as T'rin had opted to fly on Ophith instead of walk with the two of them. Whatever, they didn't need him! Huffing, a bit annoyed now, Alyana entered the Flitter Sands, looking around. It was pretty easy to spot where the Clutch was, as there were two fully grown Onyxs laying around it. Alyana wasn't sure she knew who they were, but one of the Onyxriders was V'rel, the rather violent Wingsecond, and then there was C'ero the Weyrhealer. She had seen him at the Hatching when he came down to patch up some girl who got mauled. Shrugging off the fact that T'rin had decided not to hang out with her, she stalked off towards Sh'ralik, waving. He had Impressed an Onyx, or something. She wasn't quite sure, Alyana didn't have the best memory.
"Hi!" she said cheerfully, Kivath coming up behind her. Alyana set the bowl of meat down at her feet, ready to temp the flitters if she saw one that she liked. Really, she had come here to sooth some of her boredom, as lounging around with T'rin got really boring, especially since he didn't like to talk much. Maybe this boy would be different. "I'm Alyana, and this is Kivath," she introduced herself and gestured back to Kivath, who ruffled her wings in a bit of a hello. Hello, Creeth, Kivath greeted her clutchbrother.
T'rin was off to the side, he had Ophith land a little while away, as he didn't want to risk V'rel's wrath, unlike C'ero. He shifted uncomfortably as V'rel glanced in his direction, narrowed his gaze a bit more, then looked back at C'ero. T'rin could never understand what went on in that crazy man's mind, he really couldn't. T'rin sighed and awkwardly held the bowl of meat he had brought, looking out at the Weyrlings from where he had decided to stand. He wasn't going to bother trying to meet any of them now, he would when they had Weyrling Lessons, which he really should start soon.
Sh'ven and Celestia were, as was usual, together and having a friendly argument. Bickering like brother and sister, if one did not know better they really would think them related. Sh'ven had apparently brought up yet another stupid idea of his, trying to get his friend to agree, since she was in charge of the whole weyr and all. Cele just found his idea, well, stupid really. Why should they put in the work to dig a pit of sand out from beside the ocean and have dragons heat it regularly when the ocean was there to swim in and it really was quite warm?
Shaking her head, Cele sent a half hearted glare at her friend. "Sh'ven, don't you see how idiotic this is? Thats pointless work..." She trailed off as Amath, whom had been sleeping peacefully in her Weyr, raised her head. At first Cele thought her argument with her acting Weyrleader had woken the Queen. But then Minth poked his Scarlet head into the Weyr as well, looking to his Rider from his perch on the ledge outside. -Mine, Kaloath has called all who wish to the Flitter sands. V'rel has found a clutch. He says any who wish for a lizard should come with their own meat. Shall we go down, you really could use a lizard.- The Queen stated to her Rider kindly, already moving to get up.
~Sh'ven, Kaloath has said His found a fire-lizard clutch about to hatch on the sands. I think we might go down, I do not trust V'rel to care for those lizards, and I doubt even Kaloath could stop him if he wanted to harm them.~ Minth stated to His at the same time, sounding rather worried. V'rel had a reputation for violence. And Kaloath had seemed rather worried himself. Sh'ven nodded, turning to look at Cele with wide eyes, as she headed for her Queen.
"Well, lets be off. We certainly can't let V'rel down there himself, with the Weyrlings and flitter clutch! Don't just stand there, you great lump!" Cele ordered, rolling her eyes at Sh'ven's blank look. The Wingleader quickly jumped to action at Cele's command, hurrying out of the Weyr. "I'll get some meat, you go ahead and make sure V'rel doesn't harm that clutch." He told her, already perched on Minth's back. With a wave from his Rider, the Scarlet took off, Amath quickly following, but heading in the direction of the sands rather then the kitchens.
Amath sent up a flurry of sand as she landed a little distance from the clutch, seeing some had hatched already. Well, they had gotten here just in time. How fortunate. Cele dismounted and hurried over to the small group of people gathered around the clutch, as Amath moved off a little to make room for anyone else who might come in. Only a minute later, Sh'ven was there with a couple packs of meat, knowing it would likely be needed. Minth left him dismount before moving to stand with Amath as Sh'ven lugged the meat over and set it down within reach of anyone who might come. He kept a pack for himself and Cele to share, as they took places close to the clutch.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
V'lon had just finished oiling Leith's hide, and the two were sitting on the beach when Kaloath sent out the call for any who wanted a flitter. The dark Jade raised his head from the sand, hide gleaming darkly from the access of oil adding to his natural dark colour. -V'lonMine, Kaloath says there is a fire-lizard clutch hatching on the sands. May we go, Mine? I would enjoy a cousin to keep me company. Please, Mine, may we go?- The Jade asked eagerly, moving to prod His gently. He did love the little lizards, and he knew V'lon did as well.
The boy nodded, getting to his feet. -Alright, alright, lets go. Yes, I would like a flit myself. I'm not sure I can handle more then one, though. What with all the work I have just keeping your hide from cracking.- He said affectionately, rubbing the dragon's eye-ridge as he got to his feet. Leith stated that they were to bring their own meat, and they hurried to the kitchens to grab some before going to the sands. Upon requesting meat, the cooks grumbled and grudgingly gave them a small portion, saying the acting Weyrleader had just come and nearly taken all they had.
Laughing at this, V'lon made a run for the sands, with Leith bounding along behind him. They came to a panting halt just after Sh'ven and Celestia had gotten there, stopping a respectful distance from the leaders of the Weyr. The boy grinned, still unsure around these two. He had only met Celestia once, and had no idea how she acted. It might come as a bit of a surprise, but the Weyrwoman acted just like all the other Riders here at Vyrzen.... Well, alright, maybe not like them, but she was social and really didn't expect to be treated any different from the other Riders.
V'lon took a place as close as he could get to the clutch, seeing some had already hatched. He grinned as he watched the scarlet climb into a half of it's egg, and offered a piece of meat to the little thing carefully. It was adorable, and V'lon had a terrible soft spot for cute things.
So, holding the meat out, careful that his fingers were as safe as they could be while holding a bit of meat out to a fanged creatures, V'lon took the time to glance around. He saw many of his fellow Weyrlings there, including that adorable little Aqua that was afraid of people looking at it. Smiling to himself, he was sure to not look at the adorable little thing, but nodded a greeting to his Bonded, who V'lon had ended up next to. Leith was cautiously sniffing at the Aqua Gyranoth, curious as to why his clutchbrother feared people so.
Really, V'lon had figured he would see most of the other Weyrlings here. For who would not want to have a little Fire-lizard as company, the tiny things were sharding useful. He had heard that they would even help oil a dragon's hide. Now that would be helpful! It seemed Leith would never stop growing, and every day there was more of him to oil. And the more he grew the more oiling he needed. It was a never ending cycle. Grinning, V'lon began to try and match names to the other Weyrlings, while still trying to keep his attention partly on the meat he held, so he might not lose his fingers.
That girl Sylla, with the sweet little Lavender Bitrath, was talking to him! R'kah hadn't expected anyone to talk to him. He was ... a non-event in a sea of drama. He turned his head to her with a broad smile. His hair was in his eyes, but he shook it away. Gyranoth hid his head behind R'kah's back. ~Do not fear, little one. She's nice. You can play with Bitrath!~ R'kah told His. ~I know. Bitrath seems nice. We should play with them after the Hatching!~ R'kah nodded with a chuckle.
"How's Bitrath doing? She seemed a little fragile when she first Hatched, but she seems hale enough now. Her hide sure is beautiful." R'kah replied to her, his voice cracking slightly. A flush flew across his face. Why would that happen, now of all times? Gyranoth seemed to be -pardon the pun- coming out of his shell with all these people around him. His eyes were whirling with blue-green happiness that complemented his hide quite nicely.
Now the dark Jade, Leith, was sniffing at Gyranoth. The little Aqua - was that a laugh? Gyranoth was laughing! He was showing happiness in public! R'kah had thought it would take much longer for him to blossom and open up, but maybe the fire-lizard hatching was influencing him. Gyranoth was finally able to have people look at him, for a short time anyway. After a short sniffing, Gyranoth began to be afraid again, ducking back behind R'kah.
There were eggs hatching! First, a large purple egg that smashed into another egg. A Copper and a Jade. The Copper smacked its clutchbrother, walking away with a purpose to find food. The Jade seemed hurt. R'kah wanted to comfort it. Next to hatch was a Scarlet, so red it was almost pink. It looked around for food, as the Jade creeled and the Copper searched. R'kah grabbed a piece of meat from his bucket and held it out temptingly towards the Jade, hoping it would respond. He wished hard for the Jade to come towards him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kisana watched the first three eggs hatch. One was a Copper, housed in a bright purple egg. It had used one of its clutchmate's eggs to break itself out of its shell. She did not even pay attention to the other two that hatched; both she and Lilleth were entranced by the Copper. Kisa restrained herself, though, waiting to see if anyone else tried to tempt the Copper. After all, there were plenty of eggs, so she would wait to see if any of the others struck her fancy more than the Copper.

/Mine, Kaloath say that there are fire lizards about to hatch/ Seluth said urgently to Tal. /Fireliards? Now? Let's go Sel!/ Tal told her dragon.
Tal and Sel walked quickly to the sands where the fire lizards were, with Sel doing very little stumbling, and Tal carring a bucket of meat. /I hope we are not too late, I have always wanted a fire lizard./ Seluth balked /Why, do you want such a thing, Mine? Am I YourSeluth not enough for you?/ /You are Sel, but it is just a pet it can be useful and a companion for both of us./ Tal tried to reasure Sel, but wasn't succsseding very well. /Well we will see, if i don't like it, it will leave/ /Okay Sel, that will be our compromise/ Tal said that to Sel hoping that all would turn out fine.
They resumed their fast walk with no talking between them. /Look, Sel, we're here/ Tal said at the entrance. /I will wait out here and watch/ Sel said with a huff. /Okay Sel, have it your way, but don't blame me if you want to complain later.../ Tal sid this to see if she could get Seluth to participate a little. /Alright I'll come Mine/
Tal entered carring the meat, with Sel right behind her. Tal noticed that three fire lizards out of about twenty had already hatched. /We're a little late, but not much Sel/ Seluth just snorted in reply. Tal gazed about the room for a place to stand, her gaze fell upon Kisana, there seemed to be an empty spot next to her, and it would be nice to have a friend.
"Hi, I'm Talitha, can I stand here?" Tal asked politely Sel standing behind her.

Oh good, others were arriving. Sylla glanced up as large shadows heralded the arrival of the Weyrwoman, then the acting Weyrleader. A soft pressure against her leg sent her gaze downward to meet the blue-swirling eye of Bitrath. The Purple was leaning her head against her Mine, and paying more attention to the girl than the landing dragons crowding about, or the cracking eggs. -You know,- Sylla gently told her Bonded, -If you crowd up here with me there won't be too much room for all the other people who're going to want to Impress a flit or two.-~There's plenty of room for them.~ The lavender dragon protested, partially twining her neck around Sylla's lower half like an odd lilac vine. A very strong vine that wasn't about to go away. -What's this? Are you intending to Impress a couple of flits yourself, Bitrath?- Sylla teased, amused. -Go on, love. I'll be right here.- Receiving agreement– if reluctantly given– Sylla was able to return her attention to the Hatching. She missed the little drama that had unfolded between the Copper and Jade, but giggled at the sight of the pinkish Scarlet. It almost looked like the little thing was trying to crawl back into its egg! She tossed a piece of meat its way, the offering landing a few inches away from its shell– within easy snapping distance for the flit. Whoops, R'kah was speaking to her! She still hadn't quite adjusted to the multiple conversations that could go on when one tried to talk with both others and their own dragon. At least he ought to be able to understand her distraction. "Bitrath?" She repeated as her brain finally processed what he'd said. "Yes, she is getting better." The lavender in question unwrapped herself from Sylla and almost hesitantly stretched out a bit, showing off her praised hide. The girl smiled. "You can say that around her as much as you want, you know; I don't think this Purple could ever get haughty." Her gaze flicked to Gyranoth and lingered for a moment, seeing as he was distracted with Leith and so shouldn't be bothered by her watching. "Gyranoth seems to be doing better too," she commented, sparing a quick glance to check on the hatching's progress. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ "Sh'ralik," he returned, nodding to Alyana. "And Creeth, of course." ~Kivath.~ The Onyx replied, dipping his head in lieu of ruffling wings. He thought this greeting more dignified, as befit a dragon of his status. ~Yours, too, is interested in obtaining one of these fire-lizards?~ The hatchling wasn't bothering to make his part of the conversation private, which allowed Sh'ralik to clearly hear the note of disdain in his tone. The Onyx had made his position on this hatching quite plain. Flitters, in his opinion– which ought to be very highly regarded– were exactly that: flighty little nuisances that did little more than get in the way or complicate matters. He couldn't understand why so many people wanted the tiny things. It wasn't like they could be ridden or anything, and dragons relayed messages so much quicker– and more reliably– than any minuscule imitator. The weyrling suppressed a grin at the Onyx's displeasure. The hatchling would come around, he was sure. A few rounds of fetch-some-meat or oil-the-dragon ought to do the trick. As long as he didn't lure a Diamond or some such– like greens and blues of the North he rather thought the lowest-ranked might be the hardest to train; besides, Creeth would never forgive him then. Such a flit would be beneath the pair, he was almost certain to say. Sh'ralik did smile at that thought. Amazing, how quickly he was coming to know his dragon, and so completely. It was so much faster and more... intimate, in a sense... than with anyone or anything else he'd ever met. The weyrling suppressed a grin at the Onyx's displeasure. Sh'ralik watched as the first eggs hatched: a Copper, Jade, and Scarlet, all of whom were already being sized up by the others, he could tell. The young Onyxrider made no movement to try to claim any of the three. There would be plenty more where they came from, and none of them really caught his interest anyway. "So, is this quite a change from where you came from?" He asked Alyana, partly out of curiosity and partly just for something to say. "First the Search, then the Hatching, and now a fire-lizard before we officially begin training?" He clarified, though he supposed that wasn't strictly necessary.

The time had been of late, around the candlemark whence Rukbat would slip off to bring a bright and warm morning to other parts of Pern. Splashes of rose, lilac, and saffron had been painted across the vast empyrean; silhouetting the two human figures that lingered around the edge of the cliff. If one were to listen closely, one could decipher barbed comments that were being tossed back and forth by the two females. The taller, and obviously the elder by a couple of turns, of the duo quickly spat out, “A drudge has more wit and charm than you do!” The one who the insult had been intended for’s face was twisted in rage, lips moved as she whispered, “Take it back!” With a powerful lunge towards the older child the slight lass gave a push that had all her weight thrown into it. Aye, she had allowed her temper to get the better deal of her. Sorcha, as she would come to be known as, had innocent intentions of only causing her sister to land on her backside; but intentions cannot make up for the deeds done. The blood-curling scream of her name raked its jagged nails across every corner of her mind. The dull thudding and a shriek signaled the end of a life.
Violent shaking, the gruff voice of an aging man, and the wail of a toddler awoke her with a start. Relatively dark cheeks were flushed as her breaths came short and shallow, “I didn’t mean to!” she whispered under her breath. Tears that stung at the back of her sleepy eyes were forbidden to fall as the distressed lass came aware of her bearings. A glow fiercely lit the room, squinting at the light she mumbled an apology to the Rider, it being cut short as the man began to give orders, “Grab that numbweed, fellis juice, and clean bandages. The lad’s been bitten by one of those thrice-blasted canines. You’ve got a bit o’ experience in this stuff, yeah? You’ll have to do- that Weyrhealer is gone somewhere.” Silently the saucy woman nodded solemnly, rising from the seat she had dozed off in to retrieve the requested supplies. In light, her time spent with the Masterhealer Arakin had been a blessing and curse. This situation being one of the times of whence she regretted her training by the adoptive father. By this time the child’s screams had grown hoarse and his mother was there to mix in her sobs while she repeatedly stroked the boy’s matted mess of blonde hair.
In the time for one to absorb this tableau, Sorcha had returned with the objects. With Aquarider in an uproar about all the chaos going in on the infirmary, he wagged a bony finger at the young woman, “Care for him ‘n his mother… I’ve got other things to attend to.” With that the man swept out of the corridors, leaving a blank-faced Sorcha to work. Dellanth watched as the rider left, her eyes whirling a light shade of red at how Hers had been addressed so. Eyes a shade darker than that of a thunder cloud evaluated the pair before her; grabbing the cloth that she had left to soak in a bowl of water Sorcha approached the unruly child and his mother. Her temper having already been vexed by the obnoxious Aquarider, Sorcha left no room for sympathy (not that much sympathy was ever actually present in her). In a dry monotone she stated, “You’re in the way. Please move.” One look at the younger woman’s glaring face and the mother quickly obeyed orders; leaving the room entirely for the sake of avoiding the eighteen-turn old’s wrath. ‘One bother out of the way,’ mused the irritable Sorcha as she set to work on the moderately-serious lacerations along the male’s calf. The two-turn old wailed and thrashed about wildly, refusing to allow this stranger to tend to his ‘ouchie’. Swift, small hands, that were surprisingly strong, in one fluid movement had the toddler by the shoulder, pressing on the tender pressure point she spoke in an icy tone, “Be quiet and sit still, you’re annoying me.” Her patient stared wide-eyed at the unsympathetic healer, his freckled face boosted of red blotches and a runny-nose while he sniffed away the last of his pitiful tears.
At last the female sat down to rest her sleep-deprived body, only to be brought to attention once more when Dellanth lifted her head, stirring from her slumber, -Mine, you should have been a bit more understanding. The boy was little...- A wry smile was to be seen when the minx pushed back the black tresses, “Oh yes, and the boy would loved me dearly if I had been babying him every step of the way.” Sarcasm was ever present in her speech, “His wherry-brained mother was playing the perfect assistant as well, and I should have patted her on the back. Always being underfoot when I was trying to inspect the extent of the damage.” The Copper snorted, not exactly pleased with the way Hers handled the situation. -No, but a kind word might have helped. It’s not some terrible thing to show a bit of compassion, Mine.- The comment struck a chord in Sorcha, and her features softened. Taking into consideration the possibility, ~I know… But you are the only one I can trust enough to love, Dellanth~
The Copper’s, who resembled more of a bronze in both her large size (that seemed to never stop growing) and color, eyes whirled a calming blue, she nudging Sorcha encouragingly, -It will become easier.- As the Weyrling began to caress the down eye-ridge of her dragon, she stopped when the Copper’s wedge-shaped head swiveled to look at nothing but air. The many-faceted eyes blinked, she relaying the message that had just been received, - Kaloath reports that a Flitt Hatching is going on and that everyone should come and bring meat… You should go, Mine. –
Verbally, she objected this with a strong emphasis an a certain word, “There is no sharding way I am going to go and try to and Impress a fire-lizard.”
The dragoness evaluated her bonded, the large eyes whirling at a faster pace, You would leave them to go wild? They'd be very useful there, Mine. Lazing around and doing nothing.-
“Dellanth, I am focusing my attention on you alone. I do not need, nor want, a flitt-“ Before she could finish her protest, the Copper intervened, Please, Mine? I like the little creatures. Heart-strings were tugged as the comforting voice pleaded to go, though she could not comprehend as to why she would even wish to have her attention divided with a flitt. Hands were raised in defeat, “Alright, alright; we’ll go. Only one, Dellanth. And if I start to lose time with you over it; I'll send it between myself.” As Sorcha rose from her seat, she headed down towards the kitchens to claim some meat of her own. With Dellanth close on her heels, the Weyrling rolled her eyes in annoyance, still amazed that she ahd been talked into the whole ordeal, “I hope you are satisfied.” -I am.-
With a few turns, Sorcha was on the correct path to where the Flitts were. A smirk was only present on the fetching façade, she entering into the corridors to discover the place was already filling with an assortment of people. And there were three hatchlings on the ground. Only that Copper whom she loved so dearly could convince her to be present at this Hatching…

“That’s my name, don’t wear it out.” C’ero replied lightly as he looked from V’rel to the eggs. He had nothing against the other Onyxrider, but the man was always someone’s bitch to be kicked around like a dog. It was quite pathetic to watch and he could understand some of the reason Sephiroth disliked the other rider. His dragon’s mental snort signaled that he was making a huge understatement. Well, think what he liked, C’ero had no particular problem with V’rel except that the man had to grow a backbone and needed a nice smack across the face. In an attempt to change the subject, he asked, “How’d you come across these eggs, anyway?” It was an innocent enough question, but the answer could be less than innocent. With V’rel, you could never tell what he was going to say until he said it.
Upon her arrival, Sephiroth bugled a polite greeting to Amath before asking C’ero, /Why do you speak with him, Mine?/ He sounded indignant as though insulted that His dare to speak with such trash. Kaloath was a pathetic excuse for an Onyx. He was too kind and sweet and everything that a Diamond, not an Onyx, was. His rider was worse, too much like a weak female, ready to do whatever her mate told her to do. He had nothing against the female species, though, as he knew too well that there were quite a few women in the Weyr who were tough enough to duel with the best of them and the Silvers and Coppers were far from totally submissive. In short, V’rel pissed him off and he’d be delighted if the man would drop off the face of Pern and his stupid dragon with him.
Sighing, C’ero proceeded to block out his dragon’s thoughts. When Sephiroth got like that, there was nothing to keep him from his murderous thoughts. He instead focused on the flitter hatching, as that was the entire reason he had come here. First recognizable was the little Copper who seemed to have been tangled with a Jade. She was an assertive little thing, shoving the other hatchling away. No, he didn’t need a nasty little flitter like that. She might bite people if he sent her with a message. The Jade seemed to be too much of a mess to be of any use to him at all while the Scarlet… well, he had potential, but he didn’t seem very interesting. There were twenty eggs after all, so he didn’t need to jump in to Impress the first one he saw. There were plenty. Besides, with Sephiroth’s restrictions, he was going to choose carefully.

V'rel looked away from C'ero for a moment to see the others who had arrived. The Weyrwoman? He looked away from her, though out of habit he straightened his posture so he didn't look like he was completely sulking anymore. He was trained to respect authority highly, and old habits die hard, really. He just couldn't help it. Kaloath mentally laughed at his rider, who just looked back at C'ero.
That guy seriously annoyed him to no end. He mentally glared his meanest glare, but didn't let it show. He wasn't going to let this guy and his stupid dragon see how much they pissed him off. If the Weyrwoman hadn't been there, and if C'ero had voiced his thoughts aloud, of course, V'rel probably would have punched him for it. Luckily, V'rel can't read minds, so he didn't change his opinion on the other man, and his anger levels didn't get any higher than they already were. However, the Weyrwoman showing up meant that he wasn't going to be able to kill any of the fire-lizards. What a shame, he had really been looking forward for something to take his frustration out on, and C'ero over there really wasn't helping at all. Calm down, Mine. There's nothing to get upset over! Sure, Sephiroth is.... Kaloath trailed off, then fell silent. Perhaps it was better not to push V'rel over the edge.
He simply ignored the fire-lizards, they weren't any of his business, and he certainly didn't want to Impress one now that he couldn't torture it. He had gotten a lot of nervous looks his way from the people gathered, so he figured most of them already knew what he wanted to do. How annoying. Maybe you shouldn't be so openly violent, Mine! Kaloath urged his rider, who just deepened his frown. I'm not, he said flatly, resulting in a bit of a laugh from the Onyx. That was... sort of true, the worst of his temper V'rel kept to himself. Er, sometimes.
"I just came across them, that's how," he almost snapped, but held back his temper. He had a feeling that C'ero knew his true reasons for coming across this clutch, in fact, he had a feeling the whole Weyr knew his true reasons for coming across this clutch. You know, with the whole "openly violent" thing. However, he wasn't about to come out and say it. "I was just wandering the Sands looking for some empty shells when Kaloath found them," he said with a shrug, as if it wasn't a big deal... which it wasn't. That was also partially a lie, and truthfully, V'rel wasn't all that good at lying, but this story WAS half true. So it was okay. He HAD been looking for some shells to collect, afterall.
V'rel glanced out at all the people who had gathered. There sure were a lot of them.... V'rel always felt a bit uncomfortable around lots of people, with his loner nature and all. Still, at least it meant the fire-lizards weren't very likely to come towards him. He made sure that there wasn't much meat near him, though, so there was no reason for them to approach him. Good.
~~~
Back with the fire-lizards, the Copper was still stalking around, looking at the fire-lizards Candidates. Why weren't they showering her with meat like they should be!? She hissed at all of them, oh how she loathed them all. Even in her tiny fire-lizard mind, the only emotions she could feel at the moment were hate and hunger. The hunger was beginning to overpower the food, though. Eventually she gave up on trying to make the food come to her, and jumped into the air, landing at Kisana's feet. She looked up at the girl with an angry creel, demanding food as well as Impressing.
The Scarlet noticed the meat, and tilted his head at it. He moved forward, sniffing it cautiously, then taking a bite. He almost lept out of the air, he was so happy. Meat! Food! Food! He desperately wanted to thank the one who had given him this tasty food, and after finishing he chirped for more, spotting Sylla. She had given him food! Did she have more?! He ran toward her in a headlong rush, trying to climb up her leg.
More eggs began to hatch, and a bright blue one cracked open, revealing an Aqua. The little thing looked around, but he grew bored of the people around him, looking at his wing instead. This was more interesting... it was... a wing! Yes, he was brilliant! Quickly growing bored with that, he found shards of his egg rather interesting, sniffing them curiously and trying to bite down on them, as if he could eat them. Was this food? No, this was not food. He turned from the egg shells in favor for the sand, putting his face down into it. This food did not taste very good....
While the Aqua was hatching, the Jade still looked like an awkward mess on the ground. He managed to upright himself, only to start running headfirst across the Sands, as though he was concentrating very hard on not tripping. He had a good reason, as his wings were huge, they were almost the size of his body. He tumbled into Celestia's feet, looking up at her with great admiration. She could feed him...!!!
Two other eggs also rocked and split open, almost at the same time. They were both on the opposite sides of the clutch though. A Purple emerged her hide a bright lavender. She shook the eggshells from herself, looking around. She opened her mouth in something that looked almost like a yawn, and she slumped down in her eggshell, looking boredly around at the people. Why were they all staring?
The other egg that broke open revealed a little Diamond, who was hopping around energetically. She bounced towards her Purple clutchsister, who ignored the Diamond. This made the little diamond depressed, and she bounded across the Sands towards her egg, inspecting the shells. Eventually she picked one up and dragged it towards her clutchsister, offering the other fire-lizard the shell a some sort of present. The Purple merely eyed the Diamond suspiciously, and avoided the Diamond quickly, heading into the crowd. The Diamond stared after her sister with regret, and looked down at her eggshell sadly.
The Purple headed off towards Alyana, looking up at the girl as if to say "please hide me from that Diamond", as well as stealing a bit of meat from the bowl at the girl's feet.
~~~
Kivath snorted playfully as Creeth didn't ruffle his wings. Fine, if he didn't want to play around, she wouldn't either! She immediately straightened herself out, trying to prove she was just as dignified and cool as he was! Her eyes were whirling with excitement as she heard Creeth's next question. Of course! They're really useful things, you know. They can deliver messages and everything, [/i] she responded, as Kivath had also heard the disdain in Creeth's mindvoice. Kivath thought flitters were fun, and they were very useful in her opinion. Dragons couldn't deliver messages all the time, besides, it was demeaning to deliver messages, fire-lizards did it much better. "He's very pre- handsome," Alyana corrected herself, admiring the Onyx's hide, though she was sure that he wouldn't appreciate being called pretty, it was kind of girly. Alyana was glad that her Copper was as excited about fire-lizards as she was, although Kivath was probably even more excited. The thought of Impressing one of the little cousins and having them to play with... it was a fun idea! Her tail swished happily, kicking up some of the Sand by accident. Alyana looked at the Hatching with vague amusement, the Copper was quite a... well, she was quite a mean little thing. Kivath watched the mini-her with amusement, and had even laughed through their mindlink as she hit her clutchsister. Well, perhaps it was only because the little Copper did look a bit like Kivath, though that was to be expected, they were close kin. Fire-lizards had been there before dragons, but no one in this time period knew that, and that was okay. It wasn't really a big deal, though Alyana wondered if these new colors of fire-lizards had been present before the new dragons. It was an interesting thought, but she pushed it aside. It really wasn't important, and she was daydreaming again. She had to laugh at Sh'ralik's next comment. "Oh yes, it's a huge change," she said with a nod, "I came from a Hold, so all these dragons and fire-lizards... it's a little strange," she said, with a small laugh. It really was a big change. "Oh, don't worry about the Weyrling Lessons," she said with an odd flip of her hand, glancing over at T'rin. "The Weyrling Master is one of my good friends, and I know him pretty well. He won't be that tough," she said, snickering. T'rin hadn't heard, luckily, or he probably would have hit Alyana (har har). However, she did feel bad, since T'rin was probably her only friend in the Weyr, "But don't underestimate him," she continued, completely disregarding her entire last statement, "He'll be a great teacher," she nodded, almost talking to herself. However, she then noticed the Hatching of the Purple and the interaction between her and the Diamond. She didn't bother offering any meat, though she did think the little Purple was a cute thing. She grinned when it came to her, and she picked up the Purple as well as the bowl of meat. Mine, what do you wanna call her?[/i] Kivath asked excitedly, sniffing the Purple curiously. "Yoko," she said outloud, and the little Purple looked at her with a bit of a bored look. She was full now, and slowly falling asleep in Alyana's arms. A calm little thing was good, since Alyana wasn't sure if she'd be able to deal with a hyper little beast like that Diamond... too similar to Kivath, really.[/center]

Cele had been half watching the hatching and half watching V'rel. Really, that rider worried her. And no less, when Amath rose, Kaloath was one of the few prospective Onyx's that would chase her, since there weren't that many in the weyr. Really, the man could wash his hair sometimes. She frowned, as Sh'ven burst out laughing and she felt something crash into her feet. Looking down, snapped back from her pre-occupied thoughts of the weyr's Onyx's, she saw the Jade looking up at her admiringly. It's wings were just so ... huge, and it was just so adorable!
Letting out a quiet, "Awwwww." The Weyrwoman knelt down and gave the Jade a bit of meat, which it snapped up happily, tail swaying just like a happy canine's. This caused her to grin, and she sat upon the sands so the Jade would be able to crawl onto her lap. It did so, wings spread wide for balance. It really was an awkward little thing, but it would probably fly good and fast soon enough, with such large wings. Sh'ven was still laughing, looking down at his friend and the little 'lizard who had chosen her. "What are you going to name that little guy?" He asked, trying to control his laughter. He held a piece of meat, but out to no flit in particular, just dangling it in the hope that one might come for it. But there didn't seem to be one here now that caught his interest.
Cele was still stuffing the little flit, but she glanced up at Sh'ven thoughtfully. After a moment, she replied, "He'll be Jasper." She said, and the Jade creeled as if in agreement, as she scratched his chin.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
V'lon had also tired of standing, and was now crouching on the sands, watching the flits. Upon the Scarlet Impressing to the girl who had tossed him a bit of meat, V'lon withdrew his hand, seeing no other flits that caught his interest now. That Diamond seemed too hyper, but the Aqua was rather cute. However, it did not seem too bright, but what did that matter? The thing was hungry, and it was trying to figure out what food was. Resisting a laugh, he offered the meat, if a little half heartedly. Leith seemed to be alright with this one, just not the hyper diamond. It would be nice if he could have a companion, but one so hyper was not his taste, and he let His know this right away.
At this V'lon did laugh, shaking his head with a grin. Out of the corner of his eye he saw the Weyrwoman sit upon the sand with her newly Impressed Jade in her lap. The little thing had wings that were absolutely huge. And the Weyrwoman had no care about sitting in the sands, she just fed the flit with a smile. This Weyr really was so different from what he was used to at his family's farming hold. Turning his attention back to the hatching, he shook his bit of meat, wondering if any of the flits would decide to leap at it.
Once more glancing around at his fellow Weyrlings, he saw many of them were here. Well, there certainly were enough flits. With around twenty eggs, everyone should be able to Impress one. And really, he wanted no more than one. After all, flits were just as much work as dragons, having to train them, and feed them, and he'd bet anything (except perhaps Leith) that they needed oiled just as often when growing. So, simply waiting to see if any came to him, he watched the Hatching carefully, smiling as each one hatched. They really all were so adorable!
