Rel stretched herself luxuriously. It was her free day, completely free of any duties of babysitting weyrlings, cleaning up or sweepriding. So she was able to enjoy the day and soak up the glorious sun that the beach offered all year round. She had managed to find a rock formation out from the coast a little, with enough of a flat ledge for her to lay on, whilst the bottom of her hair floated lazily in the salt water. Her green eyes were half closed, long dark lashes guarding against the sun as she looked for any signs of fire lizards, wild or otherwise. She had always been amused by the little creatures, but had never found the time to look for a nest or even attend a hatching she had heard of. Oh well.
Loreleith was paddling nearby, happily humming as the dolphins Kib, Aphi and Seido were tickling her dark belly. She trumpeted as one of them cheekily flicked water up her nostril with their tail, and playfully splashed back with a wing, proceeding to get her rider wet at the same time. The cool pale blue silk dress that she was wearing quickly went semi-transparent, and she let out a squeal of indignation. ~ Sorry Rel ~ The girl harrumphed and muttered that she had better be, before diving into the water as adeptly as any fisher’s daughter and splashing the water right up ‘Leith’s nostril again. “And that’s what you get back.” She laughed as the purple dragoness pawed at her nose with a foreclaw, snuffling the water out. ~Very funny Mine. Just watch out, I might decide to roll over. ~
The threat wasn’t in vain, and Rel scrambled back up onto her rock, just in case her bonded carried out that threat. The dolphin’s squeed their laughter at the whole predicament, knowing full well that a dragon of Loreleith’s size would make a nice big wave if she did so. “Make wave! Make wave!” They chuckled, and so the dragon obliged, flailing her wings as she rolled, sending a large wave crashing over the chestnut brown of her rider’s hair, drenching her even more. She sighed and slipped off the rock to tread water near the dragon, scratching her hide affectionately. She didn’t even care that her floating blue dress was revealing a lot more than it was hiding, after all, they were pretty much alone, and even if someone did turn up, if they were too embarrassed, they could always look away.
The purple rider sculled for a while, staring at the near cloudless sky, looking like something out of a film, with her hair fanning out almost flawlessly on the water’s surface. No, today she would just relax, with no worries in the world, and maybe, just maybe would be the day she wouldn’t think of K’ai. Oops, too late, but at least it wasn't in regret. Again. Closing her eyes, she bumped up against a wing, gently placed just under her head to keep her afloat effortlessly.
