A lone figure was sprawled across the beach, copper curls spread over the sand. Her skirt was flared out around her hips, and her eyes were shut. Kisa lay contentedly, sunlight warming her body perfectly. Lillana had her head draped across Kisa's outstretched arm, dozing with light glistening from her Copper hide. She was conveying a constant image of gently crashing waves, almost in rhythm with the water lapping at Kisa's toes. She smiled, half-asleep, and looked around. The beach was empty, as she'd expected, and the sun was bright in the sky. Then she remembered why she had come out here - the beach was one of the only places where there wasn't a huge hubbub about the horrid Hatching flying around. Since she had wanted to relax, she had come out here for some peace and quiet, and had wound up falling asleep. Now that she was awake, she sat up, making Lillana hiss with frustration. The Copper flitt flew up into the air, hovering around Kisa's head grumpily.
Several feet away, Lilleth was watching the water gravely, her eyes swirling mournfully ~So many lost, Mine. So many. All of them .... that horrible plague ate them up, Mine! Why? Why were they lost? I want them to be here.~ She turned her head towards Hers, and her eyes were so sorrowful that a tear leaked from Kisa's own eyes. She walked over and wrapped her arms around Lilleth's neck, silent for the moment. I know, dear. But we'll always remember them. She reminded the Diamond dragon after a minute or so. Lilleth let out a deep, long creel, the mourning call sounding out across the water. Lillana flew over and perched on Lilleth's back, resting gently as if she could protect her from the storm of sadness.
"Why did it happen?" She wondered aloud, her head falling onto Lilleth's neck. "What can we do to stop it?" Though she hadn't been there, she had heard many times about the maggoty creatures that had hatched from the eggs, rotting fluid dripping from their hides ... so many people had talked about it that she felt like she had been there. She just wanted to forget about it! All of it! The horrible Hatching, all the people talking about it; she had even heard that C'ero was dissecting one of the maggot-things. She shuddered at the mere though of it. What a terrible thing to do!

T’kah had grown bored of everyone telling him how cute Kalimanth was, and that he was sure odd looking. However, the little aqua was enjoying it immensely, talking to anyone who happened to mention his name. ~Yes, that’s me! Who are you? Wow, you look pretty. Wanna play?~ He was talking to anyone and everyone, and had almost scared the headwoman of the lower caverns off of her chair when he had addressed her. “You’re just a chatterbox aren’t you Kali?” T’kah laughed at his bonded. The pair went together very well in his eyes, and as soon as he was allowed, T’kah would take Kalimanth swimming. No doubt he would be a lot more graceful in the water than he was on land.
As if to compound that thought, the aqua got his legs tangled with his long body and tripped, landing with his head just underneath some girl’s skirt. She shrieked and ran off, whilst Kali sat there in a tangle of limbs and tail, looking rather abashed. ~I didn’t know I was going to trip.. What’s a pervert T’kahMine?~ It was T’kah’s turn to blush, and he mumbled something about not doing that again. Kali grinned a toothy smile and merely replied that there was nothing to see anyway, they were only legs and everyone had them. His rider shook his head in amusement, but didn’t correct the dragon. He didn’t need to know just yet anyway.
Eventually the clamour of bodies about him got too much. He stood up, and mentally signalled for Kali to follow him. They were going to the beach. With such a mixture of merriment and sorrow, this feast was giving him a headache. His dragon untangled himself a little more easily now that he was getting used to this whole walking thing, and trotted after him. ~Bye everyone!~ He called, making sure that everyone in the room knew he wasn’t going to be there anymore. After he left, many people probably breathed a sigh of relief, he had been talking to very nearly everyone who would answer.
As they got to the beach, Kalimanth saw the blue water, and squealed with delight, rushing to get there before his Mine did. All that resulted in was a tangle of tail, feet and wings that made him cry out. T’kah had to help him with this one, and so he did, laughing all the while. ~It’s not that funny, I’m only going to laugh at you if you fall over now!~ T’kah just laughed again and looked about the beach. It seemed pretty empty, but then he saw a diamond dragon, along with her rider. He searched his memory for her name, and remembered that it was Kisana. He called out and waved, walking towards the group. Kalimanth set off, again in a rush to meet this new dragon, but this time at a pace where he wouldn’t trip. ~Hello! I’m Kalimanth, what is your name? Your hide is pretty, it’s all sparkly. Mine isn’t though.~ The dragon looked somewhat forlornly at his hide, but perked up again when he realised he was still pretty.
T’kah smiled as he went and sat by Kisana, extending his hand in greeting. “I’m T’kah, I dunno if you remember me from Verilith’s clutch when it hatched?” he waited for a reply, his blue eyes gleaming with charm and a very small hint of mischief. Then again, that was just T’kah. “Anyway,” he continued, “I thought I’d come down to the beach, it’s too noisy back there.” he jerked his thumb towards the lower caverns where the feast took place. “And when we saw you, we thought you’d like some company.” He grinned again, showing his sparkly white teeth. Kalimanth had finally stopped chattering to Lilleth, just waiting to see if she said anything back. Then he’d probably start again.

Kisa smiled weakly as the Aquarider - T'kah, wasn't it? - and shook his outstretched hand. "I haven't gone down there yet, not much reason for me to be down there," She mused. Lilleth bounced happily up and down and nuzzled Kalimanth. ~Hello! I'm Lilleth! You're so pretty and ruffly! I wish I looked as pretty as you do!~ Lilleth moaned as she investigated Kali thoroughly. Kisa watched the two dragons silently for a moment before turning to T'kah again. Should she ask him? Sure, he was there, but maybe he didn't want to talk about that abomination of a Hatching. It was probably traumatic enough without being asked about it again and again. But she just wanted to know! An oddity such as those little maggots deserved investigation and thought.
"What do you think happened? With the ... the dragons, I mean," she whispered, staring almost desperately at him. Her eyes were full of hunger, hunger for information. "I don't mean to bother you, and I bet everyone else is asking you about it, but I wasn't there and I want to know and you probably know better than I do-" She stopped herself, took a deep breath, and said simply, "I'm curious."
((Short, but it's still something. x.x))

The blonde haired lad cast a cursory glance back towards where he’d just come from, and waved a hand. “Nah, I wouldn’t really say that it was worth leaving her for the celebration. Well, not that it is much of a celebration, everyone seems to be more preoccupied with… what happened.” A ghost of it flickered across his face, but his perky nature kicked back in and he was suddenly tempted to start a play fight with this girl, something boisterous, but reined himself in. He’d only just properly made her acquaintance, so it wouldn’t exactly be appropriate. Kalimanth on the other hand, was happily nuzzling Lilleth back and even daring to nip at her playfully. He looked back at himself and realised that yes, he was ruffly! ~ I am all pretty aren’t I! But, you’re sparkly and that makes you look really pretty. I’m not sparkly but I’m still pretty! Still, I’d like to be sparkly. ~ He looked wistfully at the sea. ~ I look at bit like the sea!! And you sort of look like the sparkles of it. We would be good friends!! ~ The glee in his mental voice was unmistakable, and he started to bounce around the beach, flapping his long narrow wings and whipping up the sand.
T’kah looked at his dragon, smiled again and sat next to Kisana, making himself comfortable on the warm sand. He grimaced at the playful antics of his aqua dragonet, who was now rippling his long body to emulate the movements of the small waves in the sea as best he could. His smile disappeared after Kisana mentioned the hatching. As soon as he realised it had gone, he made a valiant attempt at replacing it, but not even his cheerfulness could. “No, don’t worry about asking…” His eyes held some hint of the sorrow in both his and Kalimanth’s heart’s. Meeting her green eyes, strikingly pretty eyes, he thought, sidetracked again by his boyish nature, he too a short breath before speaking again. “I, don’t know what happened. And I, almost wish I wasn’t there.” Kali looked over and snorted at this. ~But then, he wouldn’t have found me!~ This was said loud enough, that anyone in the vicinity would have heard it. By now, he had settled down a little bit and the miniature sand storm had abated, and the brilliant blue dragonet was staring wistfully at the sea. ~ Can we go in it? ~ He asked the pretty, pretty diamond dragon.
T’kah gave another ghost of a smile, before straightening up and continuing. “But I think that C’ero is trying to find out now. I’m sure he’ll let us all know when he finds out.” He’d been idly making patterns in the sand, and now swept his hand over them, as if sweeping the conversation away. His cheery smile returned again, along with the twinkle in his eye. “But anyway, we should try not to worry about it!” He grinned again. “And what about you? I’m curious too, I don’t know much about you. Tell me anything!” His exuberance, he realised, may be a little scary, so he just added another little comment. “And if you’re still curious, ask me anything.” The twinkle in his eye accentuated the deep blue color, making them look as deep as the sea itself.
