Name: V'lon
Age: 17 turns
Rank: Weyrling
Family: Father, Turon. Mother has passed.
Birthplace: A small farming hold just beside Southern Hold
Appearance: Always rather short and stocky, V'lon is only five feet tall. From growing up as a farm boy, always outside working in the fields, his skin is burnt to a dark copper that might be considered even 'black' by some. His big dark brown eyes are accented by his long dark eyelashes. A rather narrow face for his stocky build, he has high prominent cheekbones and a full mouth with dark rose lips, and a thin nose, making him rather attractive to some.
Muscled from his work in his father's fields, most of his stockiness is due to too much muscle for his short body. His dark brown hair is kept cropped short, but it always manages to stick up in every direction, making it seem as though V'lon has put effort into spiking his hair. Much of him still has a boyish appearance, though you can see maturity in the way he handles any situation you throw at him.
Personality: Quiet and loving, V'lon is rather simple in the emotions department. He is hardly ever angered, perhaps because he is too kind to think that anything rude said about himself or others is meant as anything more then a joke. He finds joy in everything, often just sitting around the Weyr watching the dragons in his free time. He is very giving and the only flaws anyone can find in him are his innocence and his access of kindness. He will forgive anyone, no matter what they have done.
Always a follower and never a leader. V'lon will do anything asked of him by authority figures with a smile and a skip in his step. Some think him born with a mental disability because of his simple enjoyment of being alive, and fascination with all living things, as well as his strange ability to find the good in anything. To anger him would be difficult indeed.
History: Born in his family's small farming hold just off the Southern Hold's lands, V'lon was always a quiet child. When he was a baby he would never cry, and he learned fast. When he was old enough to walk, he was outside with his parents, helping care for their fields. He enjoyed simply caring for the plants, for they were living things too! When he was six, his mother died of illness. This left him and his father to care for their farming hold, as the only sibling he had had, a little sister, died on her first birthday.
When his father became too disabled himself to work, V'lon was left caring for the fields alone. But he did not mind, for they were living things, and they needed his tending. The search rider Sh'ven was at Southern one day right before V'lon's sixteenth birthday, when he and his father were visiting the Hold to buy some supplies and such. When the Scarlet Minth zoned in on V'lon, he felt no guilt for having to leave his father behind. As always he managed to find the good in the situation, he thought it would probably be better now that his father was old and ill, if he sold the farming hold and used the money he got for it to take care of himself, find somewhere to stay in Southern Hold. So with just one last hug for his father, he was off. He only had to wait a few months for the hatching, but he managed to fit himself right in with the other candidates.
He stood at a Hatching only once, when Leith chose to Impress to him. The Jade was clearly meant for the boy, however, and they are as close as could be, perhaps closer then some other Bonded Pairs on Pern.

Dragon Info
Name: Leith
Age: Hatchling
Hide: A dark Jade that could Easily be mistaken for Onyx upon first sight.
Personality: Leith is a bright and joyous young Dragon. Like his Rider, he is able to find the good in most any situation. His outlook on life is a little more realistic then V'lon's is, perhaps. The boy refuses the see the bad, where as Leith finds many bad points to the situations as well, but chooses to believe in the good. He is rather quiet as well, though if you would challenge him he will defend himself and his rider to the end, physically or verbally.
Leith is a people Dragon, enjoying spending time with the other Dragons and their Bondeds, even if V'lon is too shy to socialize much among his fellow riders. The Dragon is a good off-set for the boy, willing to defend when his rider wishes for peace. And not as forgiving, Leith is more likely to hold a grudge then forgive one easily, if the offense was high enough. So, he is clearly matched perfectly to V'lon.
