As usual, with the stifling heat of Vyrzen, many residents were seeking ways to cool off and relax any way they could. With the heat so intense at the middle of the afternoon, it was a struggle more then ever. Many had taken refuge in their cool stone weyrs, hoping the stone blocking the sunlight might relieve a bit of the heat. Others hid within the kitchens where they could keep as close as possible to an ice cold pitcher of drink.
Though, for V'lon, he had no choice but to seek refuge upon the beach at the hot hour, seeking the warm waters to cool him. He would be inside if he had a choice. But Leith was again complaining about his hide itching. He wanted oiling. For the second time that day, too. Honestly, the young dragon seemed to never cease complaining of an itch somewhere or other. But the dark Weyrling didn't mind. His bonded wanted oiling, he would get it. It was not new to V'lon to be stuck out in the burning sun mid-day with chores to do. That had been his life before being Searched.
So with reluctance the boy clothed himself in his lightest pair of trousers, disregarding a shirt altogether. While stocky, the boy had muscle to him, and found it perfectly normal to go about without a shirt. And so he ended up in the shallows of the ocean, Leith splashing happily about as V'lon attempted to oil his hide while the flits, who he was attempting to train to help with this chore, chased eachother about the dragon's head. Releasing a sigh of annoyance, he sent Hinto and Alona an image of them helping to oil Leith, but all he received in reply was amusement as the two began chasing eachother again with renewed energy.
Leith snorted amusement, submerging himself in the clear waters as he spoke to his Bonded. -V'lonMine, relax. They are playing. I am playing. The oil feels good on my hide, and the water is cool. Swim Mine, and have fun.- The Jade stated, using his wings to awkwardly splash at V'lon, soaking the boy. Leith, even so young, knew His would always seek work first. The dragon found this a bothersome personality trait, and put a lot of effort into trying to get the boy to have some fun.
The Flits, seeing V'lon get splashed by Leith, let out coos of amusement and dove into the water as well, the little creatures splashing playfully at Theirs. V'lon, seeing no other way to escape the splashing, quickly dove under the water for a moment. He resurfaced a moment later, hair dripping wet, and sent a half-hearted glare at the three. He might find being forced to play slightly annoying, but he knew they meant well. He glanced around, wondering if there was anyone else here in the water. He supposed they would all trying to be hide in the shade, instead of the direct sunlight out here in the water.
Muttering to himself for a moment, he glanced at Leith. "You wanted oiled, so let me oil you, at least, before you start playing in the water." He sighed. The dragon quickly obliged, happy to be oiled and freed of the bothersome itch of his growing hide. Quickly the boy got to work, rubbing the oil into the Jade hide with a tenderness only his dragon knew.

But Mine, I'm so so so so sooooo itchy! [/i] "I said no! I oiled you like, an hour ago!" But Miiinnnneeeeeeeeeeeeee.....[/i] "Shardit Kivath, my arm still hurts!" The rider and Weyrling's conversation went on like that for a few more minutes until both sides gave up. Alyana fell back on her cot, looking up at the ceiling of her room. How annoying. Kivath's hide never seemed to stop itching. Well, at least it meant she was healthy. The dragonet's hides were supposed to itch a lot while they grew, or at least, that was what T'rin had said. Kivath was also going to get a lot bigger than she already was, meaning that soon there would be a lot more hide to oil, which was even more annoying. Sighing Alyana glanced over at Kivath, who was fidgeting in an attempt to stop itching, and lifted herself up, she had an idea. "Hey Kivath! Let's go swimming! Maybe the water will help relieve some of that itch," she suggested with an elated smile, looking at the Copper dragon fondly. Kivath stopped itching and her eyes whirled with excitement. Yes yes yes! Let's go, come on, come on!![/i] the excitable little Copper was even happier than Alyana at the chance to go swimming. The dark haired 16 turn old first glanced down at what she was wearing. "I'd better change into something I won't mind getting wet," she mused, half to herself and half to Kivath. Alyana got changed in a few minutes, changing into some old shorts and a shirt she didn't really care about, so she wouldn't care how wet she got it. They were slightly old and kinda small, but the beach was usually empty, she wasn't expecting to see anyone. All Alyana expected was to splash around in the water a bit with Kivath. Hopefully playing around would get the dragon's mind off her hide so Alyana wouldn't have to oil her again. The poor girl's arm was already sore from the last time, as she was pathetically weak. Mine, hurry up and let's go! I'm bored and itchy.[/i] Oh, so now the dragon was BORED as well. Well, at least they weren't just sitting around their room anymore. The pair quickly made their way down to the beach. Alyana hadn't bothered to find her sandals (which were probably buried under a pile of clothes) so she watched where she stepped, not wanting to rip open her foot on a rock. Kivath was patient for once, but eventually the both of them grew bored of being careful and ran across the Weyr cheerfully, heading towards the beach for some fun. Alyana slowed down a bit as she approached. Look, Mine! Leith and His are there too![/i] Hearing this, Alyana stopped her in tracts, considering if she should go to a different area of the beach or something. She suddenly felt a bit embarassed about what she was wearing, as it was old and the shirt didn't really fit her anymore. She tried to conceal the blush that crept across her face. She hadn't really talked to V'lon before, but she was always open to making friends. Leith! Leith![/i] But it was too late really, as Kivath was bounding across the sands to her clutchbrother. Hello, Leith! Isn't it a wonderful day?[/i] she greeted him cheerfully, looking at the clear blue water. Alyana followed the Copper, with a bit of a tired smile. "Hello, V'lon," she greeted him. She had met him once before (so we don't have to waste time with introductions or whatever) so she knew his name, but not much else. "These dragons sure do require a lot of oiling, don't they?" she attempted to strike up a bit of conversation, if only because Kivath seemed intent on talking with Leith before they went swimming. Hey, at least she wasn't complaining about her hide anymore. (ooc: Ha, I'm playing Alyana a lot differently than I am at Arhen. Ah well, her character developed differently here. xP)[/center]

Kisa stroked Lilleth's side gently. Her chest was still wrapped in bandages, as her wounds were still not healed - what was to be expected? She sighed heavily and stood up, wincing as she bent slightly to get off the bed. Lilleth allowed her Bonded to use her neck as a prop as she walked out of her weyr. Lillana fluttered along behind, bobbing and weaving. She had mellowed out considerably since her hatching, though the little flit was still prone to snapping if she wasn't fed as soon as she got hungry.
Where are we going, Mine? Can we go to the beach? Lillana is so hot. Can you bring the oil? Ouch! Kisa giggled at her dragon. She had thoughtfully grabbed a jug of oil before they had left.
"Did you trip again, Lil? You really need to remember where your feet are. You won't be any good flying if you can hardly walk!" She chuckled, tickling Lilleth under her front leg. The young dragon's feet tangled up in each other, and she stumbled, sprawling across the stone path in a klutzy heap. Kisa laughed loudly enough to send echoes dancing down the hall. Lillana nipped the Diamond's tail to encourage her to get up. The flit sent impatient images of the beach to Kisa, who patted Lillana's head.
"You, Lillana, need to be patient. Now let's go!" She called as she ran in the direction of the beach. Lil struggled to her feet, rushing after Hers in a flurry of shining white limbs and claws. Lillana raced ahead towards the beach. Kisa's chest began to ache soon after she started running, though, and she had to stop. Lilleth immediately bumped into her, nuzzling her leg vigorously.
Mine, are you okay? Did you hurt yourself? Did Lillana hurt Mine? Lilleth asked her worriedly. Kisa shook her head, winded. The bandages wrapped around her torso felt constricting, and she felt like she just had to rip them off ... her fingers, clawlike, reached for her chest, before Lil bumped her hand away,
If you do that, C'ero will be mad. And who knows what Sephiroth will do to you!~ Her Bonded reminded her. Kisa nodded somewhat weakly and walked with Lilleth and Lillana towards the beach. They took their time, though Lilleth complained constantly about the intense itching all over her hide. Kisa smiled broadly at her, reminding the Diamond,
"It's hard for me to oil you like this. You'll just have to be patient!" Lilleth groaned, her eyes whirling blissfully. Lillana buzzed ahead, occasionally darting back to rush the pair on towards the beach. When Lillana got an idea in her head, she latched onto it and wouldn't let go until it was fulfilled.
Finally, they arrived. Four ((making this retroactive because I need it to be XD)) Weyrlings were already there - no, three Weyrlings and a girl without a dragon, presumably a Candidate. Kisa recognized Y'kito and his Purple Zutrith, V'lon and Jade Leith, and Alyana with Copper Kivath, but she didn't know the Candidate-girl. Leaning slightly against her dragon, Kisana approached the crowd of teens, who were talking amicably while the dragons basked. Kisa heard the new Candidate's name, Crescentia. They all seemed nice enough.
"Hello, all. Trying to avoid the heat?" She asked them all. Lilleth pranced over to the other three dragons, flicking her tail like a cat. She bumped her head into Zutrith. Hello, sister Zutrith, Sister Kivath, Brother Leith. Mine is talking with Yours. I'm so itchy! Are you itchy, Zutrith? KisaMine has some trouble oiling my hide and I itch soo much! The little Diamond talked speedily with the purple Zutrith as Kisa waited for a response from the others.

Despite Zutrith's upbeat nature, Y'kito never would have pegged her for one to be completely resistant to the heat. They were currently hiding out in their weyr to try and beat the heat, but were, for the most part, failing spectacularly. Now that the Purple had been oiled, fed and had her nap, she was up and eager to do something other than sit around and do nothing. However, that something was limited to whatever could be done inside away from the heat, which was pretty much nothing. Still, Zutrith wasn't one to give up easily so, eye whirling happily, she tugged at her rider's sleeve and creeled. /Let's go swimming at the beach, Mine!/ She cried, tugging as hard as she could to get Yuki out of bed. She wanted to go SO BADLY even if she didn't know what a beach or swimming even was. She just wanted to go!
Sighing, Yuki merely rolled over and sighed as he wiped the sweat from his forehead. "It's too hot to go out, Zu." He told her, reaching out to scratch at an eyeridge. It was too hot to do anything, really, but the more he thought about it, the more enticing the water sounded. It would certainly cool them off any maybe, just maybe, there would be other people there, his logic told him. His logic was usually right which led him to seriously reconsider a trip to the beach. It didn't take long before he was undressing and putting on an old pair of breeches and a loose shirt before he and Zutrith were happily skipping down the hallway and toward the entrance of the Weyr. It was quite fortunate that they were going that way at the time, as one of the candidates was quite lost indeed.
“Why does this sharding Weyr have to be so confusing?” Crescentia snapped in frustration as she spun around for the third time. She was in a filthy mood right now, which didn’t bode well for anyone else at this point. She hadn’t been at Vyzren for more than half a day and she was already lost. So much for trying to find the beach… Shardit, why wasn’t anyone around to show here where things were?! Lucky for her, Yuki and Zutrith came bounding out just then. In their surprise, they slowed, but not enough in Zutrith’s case and she nearly slammed into the blond candidate. She didn’t, however, and simply sat in front of the girl, looking at her expectantly. Cresce, torn between fury, confusion and a bit of skepticism, didn’t say anything right away, at least not until Yuki did.
“Sorry about that, Zutrith isn’t the most coordinated dragon yet.” He said apologetically, adding, “She just hatched recently.” In response to the slightly hurt look the Purple gave him. She perked up instantly and, after nudging Crescentia’s hand affectionately, rushed back to Y’kito’s side. “Oh, I forgot my manners. I’m Y’kito of Purple Zutrith.” He said hurriedly, extending his hand for her to shake. She stared at the hand for a moment in contemplation before taking it firmly. He seemed nice enough, so why not? “Candidate Crescentia, but you can call me Cresce if you really want to.” She said matter of factly. She had calmed quite a bit in the few minuets she’d spent talking to the Weyrling and could now comfortably ask, “Could you show me to the beach? I just got here and I’m ready to cool off. I’m from Telgar, by the way.” She added as though it would explain her reasoning for jumping in the water so quickly. She was used to sitting in a freezer, not frying in an oven.
Grinning, Yuki nodded as he gestured in the direction of the beach. “Sure! That’s where Zu and I were going! Come on!” He shouted before starting off toward the beach again with Cresce in tow, watching Zutrith bound along in amusment. Oh Faranth, she’d better not Impress one of those…
/Hello brother Leith and sister Kivath!/ Zutrith exclaimed excitedly as she bounded over to the other hatchlings, allowing his to speak with their Mines and introduce the new candidate who was oh so funny. Snorting, she nudged Lilleth back affectionately. /I'm not itchy, Lilleth, mine just oiled my hide./ She replied happily, stretching her wings as though she expected everyone to examine her hide.
“Hey!” Yuki waved to Alyana and V'lon eagerly before stepping aside to introduce Cresce. “This is Crescentia, she’s a new candidate!” He seemed much happier than he had been before, which was probably Zutrith’s doing. “Hey, what’s up?” Cresce asked, her eyes shining. Twelve hours and she was going to know… three Weyrlings. Perfect. She’d be on top soon enough.
Nodding to Kisana, Yuki replied, "Yup. It's too hot to stay out of the water." He told her, wiping the sweat from his forehead as if to emphazise that fact.

V'lon had just begun to try and make another attempt to oil Leith when suddenly, people and dragons seemed to be everywhere. He looked up, as Leith let out a happy attempt at a bugle, which turned out rather bad as he was only a few days old, so he settled himself with a contented hum as he turned to greet his clutch-siblings. -Hello Sister Kivath, Sister Zutrith, and Sister Lilleth! Have you all come to play also?- He greeted them, dipping his head into the water to splash at them playfully.
V'lon watched his dragon joyously greet the others before he looked up to see who all had suddenly appeared. Alyana, Y'kito, Kisana, and a girl he didn't know who was introduced as Crescentia. He nodded a greeting, the shy side of him kicking in around so many of his fellow Weyrlings. "Hi there Alyana, Y'kito, Kisana. It's nice to meet you Crescentia. So it seems like everyone decided to come out for some swimming and oiling now, huh?" He commented, attempting a laugh as he turned back to his dragon, who had swum to the shallows and was laying in the wet sand so he could be closer to his clutch-siblings. Well, so much for oiling.
Hinto and Alona were happily fluttering in circles around his head now, and he frowned at them. Quickly he sent them a picture of spinning colors in the hopes they would understand that he was getting dizzy. The two then took off to circle Leith instead, chattering happily. V'lon looked down at the water, feeling rather foolish standing waist-deep in the ocean with oil in hand while the others were still on the beach. Really, he had to become more social, he told himself. With Leith, surely he could handle being around others so much like him. Its not like they knew anything more then he did, right? So, he forced himself to look at the others, waiting for them to start with their own swimming or oiling so he didn't feel so uncomfortable.

Lilleth churred happily as Leith splashed her.
~I wish Mine would come oil me right now! Whoops!~ Lilleth exclaimed. She had tried to duck her head and splash Leith back, but had just succeeded in flipping herself into the water, falling over for the second time in under an hour. Kisa laughed loudly, once she knew that Lil wasn't hurt. Lilleth sat up quickly and examined Zutrith's amethyst hide with interest. ~She's such a pretty shade of purple! Why can't I be that color?~ Lil asked Hers poutily. Kisa stared amusedly at her. ~If you were that color, you wouldn't be my Diamond, would you?~ Kisa replied.
"You'll have to excuse Lil. She isn't the most coordinated of hatchlings yet." Kisana explained to the others, nodding respectfully at each in turn. "And yes, it's really too hot, though it's hard for me to go in the water with these." Kisa scowled as she lifted her tunic up to expose the dreaded bandages. They were thick and hot, constrictingly tight in the summer heat. Shard it, I'm going swimming, wounds or not! Kisa thought determinedly to herself. Her bare feet smacking across the sand, Kisa entered the water with relief. She sighed aloud, forging deeper into the water to approach her dragon. As the salty water washed across her torso, she winced noticeably, but continued with a determined scowl.
Lilleth smacked her tail lovingly at Hers, sending a cascade of water falling over Kisa's dull-copper curls. She laughed as she grew accustomed to the stinging pain of salt water. The Diamond dove towards Hers and bumped her thigh, sending her tumbling into the water. Kisa's head bobbed above the surface.
"Could someone bring me that jug of oil on the shore?" She called to the others still on the beach. "Oh, and nice to meet you, Crescentia!" She added when she remembered that she hadn't said hello properly.

Diving right in, Zutrith creeled happily as she splashed all of the hatchlings as best she could. /Yes, I have come to play with everyone!/ She exclaimed happily as she leapt at Leith, trying to dunk him under the water. However, she only succeeded in soaking herself, but didn’t seem to care in the least as she was back at it again in moments. She just HAD to get Leith wet, she had to, and Lilleth, too! Speaking of Lilleth… She wanted to be purple? /But if sister Lilleth wasn’t Diamond, sister Lilleth wouldn’t be her pretty self!/ Zutrith shouted as she charged over to the Diamond, accidentally bowling the poor thing over in the process. /Sorry….
Rolling his eyes good naturedly at Zutrith, Yuki nodded to V’lon and replied, “I already oiled Zu, but we’re definitely up for a swim. It’s just to sharding hot to do anything else.” He said, looking about at the other Weyrlings and Crescentia, looking for looks of approval. He highly doubted that anyone would disagree with him at all, but there was always the possibility of the oddball who just wanted to fight…
“Er… is it really a good idea for you to be going into the water?” He asked Kisana as he watched the Diamondrider enter the water. The grimace of pain was not lost on him and he shed his shirt before slipping into the water after her. “You really shouldn’t be out here. What if your wounds start bleeding again?” He asked in a motherly tone that he tended to adopt when people weren’t taking care of themselves properly.
Nodding, Crescentia stepped into the water until it was calf high, but didn’t go all the way in, not yet, at least. “He’s got a point. I don’t know what happened, but if you wounds are deep enough and start bleeding, the water will draw the blood out, or at least that’s what I’ve heard. I don’t think the Weyrhealer would be too happy patching you up.” She said bluntly, crossing her arms over her chest. Faranth, why couldn’t people understand that when they were hurt, they had to REST, not run around like they were whole. People were so STUPID sometimes…

"Well, they haven't bled since C'ero stitched them up. I'm not too worried, though ... that salt does hurt!" Kisa exclaimed. She walked slowly and painfully towards the shore to grab the oil. Her chest wounds still stung, but they didn't feel as if they were opening up. Carrying the jug back into the water, Lilleth recovered from Zutrith sending her sprawling again into the water to help Hers. You can oil me here where it's shallow, Mine. Why are you hurt yourself like this for me, KisaMine? I'm sure one of the others would oil me for you. Everyone knows about how that Rilaveth hurt you. Lil soothed Kisa. She shook her head determinedly. Kisa wouldn't let one of these others baby her. Dragonriders were tougher than that! So, Kisa backed into shallower water, about to her waist. Lilleth followed, and the oiling began.
"I'm just glad she's not a Silver. I wouldn't be able to oil her in such shallow water if she was!" Kisa chuckled. The water was now lapping around her thighs, which was much more acceptable. She nodded thankfully at Y'kito and Crescentia.

Alyana hadn't been expecting one other person to be there, let alone three others. Well, it seemed to her like everyone wasn't wearing their best clothes, after all, they had all come down to the beach. She smiled cheerfully at Crescentia, giving a small wave. "Hello, Crescentia. I'm Alyana. Welcome to the Weyr!" she introduced herself as well, "Hi Y'kito, Kisana." Looking back at V'lon she shouted out to him, "Yeah. I came out here to try and get Kivath's mind OFF oiling, since I did oil her a few minutes ago," she said with a glare at Kivath. Nuh uh, Mine! It was longer than that![/i] Kivath protested, twitching her tail. Alyana ran a few fingers through her hair absentmindedly. Kisana was going to oil her Diamond, but Alyana really didn't want to oil Kivath again. Even if it had been longer than a few minutes ago, there had to be other things for the dragon to do to get her mind off oiling. Alyana had hoped that this would be one of them, but the others oiling their own dragons had brought the little Copper's mind back to oiling again.
However, soon Kivath grew bored with watching her siblings talk to each other and just stand around, so she ran out into the water to see Leith. Leith! Leith! Let's play, come on![/i] She invited him out deeper into the water with her, running her tail through the water to make even more waves. She was really enjoying herself in the water. It was cool and refreshing, and it helped sooth the itch, which would make Alyana very happy. And it was fun! Kivath splashed Leith some more, then dove under the water in an attempt to hide from him in a sort of "hide-and-seek" type of game. Her Copper form was pretty visible under the waves, though, and soon she'd have to poke her nose out from the water to, you know, breath.
Alyana sighed, gave a half-hearted wave to Y'kito, Crescentia and Kisana and ran after Kivath, stopping when she came to V'lon. "They sure are energetic," she commented with a laugh, watching Kivath splash around in the water. "Do you think they'll calm down?" she asked, half serious and half joking. Really, Kivath was cute, but she got a bit... tiring. Alyana herself was a very energetic and cheerful girl, but really, sometimes Kivath just had to calm down. Ah well, she was a Hatchling still, so maybe she'd calm down a bit when she got older. Well, at least she wasn't the only one with a hyper dragon. The other Weyrlings here seemed to have dragons just as excitable as Kivath, which was a relief.

V'lon hurried to shore to put the oiling things on the dry sand before swimming back into the deeper part of the water, watching as Zutrith attempted to soak Leith but only managed to make herself even more wet. He laughed as Leith swung himself around, using his tail to bring a wave that swept right over Zutrith. Shaking his head, he turned to watch the others, and frowned at Kisana. "You're being really stubborn. You dont want C'ero mad at you, do you?" He sighed at her, as his two flits came from seemingly out of nowhere to dive bomb Leith, splashing him playfully.
Leith bobbed his head under the water, trying to avoid the flits for a moment. When he came up, Kivath was there, urging him to deeper water to play. He snorted as she dove under as well, trying to hide despite her very noticeable hide. -Kivath! Ok ok I will play!- He replied, swimming to the deeper water where she was. He dove under, poking her in the side with his nose before surfacing with a small splash. The Flits followed happily, perching on his back where is was just close enough to the surface they wouldn't get their heads under water.
As Alyana came to stand beside him in the water, V'lon grinned at her. "Yes, they have so much energy. I hope it wears off soon, I cant keep up with that much energy all the time! Leith is always wanting to run around. I think they'll be better when they get older. After all, none of the older dragons are like this. At least, they dont seem like they are..." he trailed off, wondering if this generation of Dragons was destined to be like this forever... He didn't think he could handle that.

"I don't want to force anyone to oil her just because I'm hurt. No matter what, I have to be responsible for Lilleth." Kisana muttered, though she doubted V'lon could hear her through the gentle crash of waves and the romping of the hatchlings. Kisa grinned as Alyana approached. Someone who didn't think she was being a moron was a welcome change. She splashed halfheartedly at V'rel after he finished talking to Alyana.
"Though I can't speak for all of you, I know that Lilleth is the most uncoordinated hatchling I've ever heard of. If she doesn't grow out of it, she won't be of much use to anyone!" Kisa laughed at Hers. Lilleth looked at her with a put-out expression. She tossed a bit of water towards Kisa, but missed and instead soaked Alyana.
~I am not clumsy! I just don't like standing up all the time, that's all, Mine!~ Lil tried to defend herself, but Kisa just laughed and continued oiling. She really wasn't trying to be stubborn. If one of them volunteered to do her oiling, if C'ero showed up, or if she collapsed, she would stop. Until then, she had a job as a weyrling - to make sure her hatchling was well cared for, well-fed, and oiled when she needed it.

Sighing, Crescentia ran her fingers through her hair before remembering it was still braided, and waded out into the water to stand next to Kisana. Faranth, did they teach people around here that being injured mean that you did hard manual labor? If they did, it was a good thing she hadn’t been born here; otherwise she wouldn’t have lasted long, considering all the fighting she did, especially with Reren. Well, as much as she hated babying other people, this poor girl needed to oil her dragon and really wasn’t in any shape to do it. “I don’t care how tough you think you are, but if your wounds are half as bad as what I’ve heard, you’ll bleed to death before you can finish oiling your dragon. I’ll do it, if you want; I’ve had practice oiling my father’s Bronze, Savath, when he gave a damn and showed up to see me.” She said, hands on her hips and a look on her face that said ‘refusing is a BBBAAADDD idea.’ She meant it all in good faith, though.
Y’kito, meanwhile, was busy paying attention to… well, everything, really. Zutrith was having a blast in the water, splashing Leith as hard as she could with her tail which resulted in unintentionally dunking herself in the surf. She came up no worse for the wear and continued to play with her clutchsiblings with all the energy her body could muster. Laughing, he replied to Alyana, “They’ll probably calm down a bit, but become more… individualized, I think is the word I want.” He said, then added, “They just hatched, though, and want to explore the world and play and do all the things newborns do, though.” That was definitely something to consider when taking the hatchling’s personalities into account. They’d mellow out eventually, but not for a while, most likely.

Kivath was enjoying herself a lot, ducking in the water even with her shiny Copper hide. Too slow!!![/i] she exclaimed, lashing her tail through the water, attempting to splash both Zutrith and Leith. She waved her wings too, liking the waves they made when she flapped them through the water. She seemed easily amused, liking the way the water moved around her. She splashed some more, submerging herself in the water so that only her head was above. The little Copper saw around some more, splashing at her clutchsiblings as she passed them, flipping and splashing around. She was really enjoying herself, and it was very obvious.
Alyana chucked at V'lon and Y'kito's responses. "Hah, yeah. Most of the older dragons are a bit more mature than this, though some of them..." she trailed off with a bit of a glance to the dragons splashing around in the surf. She nodded at Y'kito, though. "Yeah, little human kids are like this too, and none of us turned out too... uh, overly hyper," she said with a grin. Most of the adults at this weyr weren't as excitable as the Hatchlings, but Alyana figured that probably wasn't possible. The little Hatchlings were just too... hyper for any human to actually match. Still, Greens were known to remain this hyper throughout their entire lives, so she still couldn't be sure. The "new" colors at this Weyr were all so different, yet similar, it was strange. Of course, by now the colors were "common" enough that the people of the Weyr knew what to expect, but it was still a bit strange to Alyana, who had never even been to a Weyr before arriving at this one.

The new Candidate Crescentia waded into the water and stood beside Kisa. She seemed to want to force Kisa into letting her oil Lilleth. Kisa glared at her but stepped aside and handed her the jug. Before she walked out of the water, she leaned in to the other girl.
"I just want to let you know that this is really a nice gesture. The salt stings like crazy, but I have to do my duty as a Weyrling." Kisa said with sincerity and walked back onto the beach. This stranger was being kind to her, even though she was gruff, and Kisa really appreciated it. Lilleth reached her head out towards Hers.
~Crescentia is going to oil you, because I shouldn't really be in the water. Be nice and don't splash!~ Kisa told Lil sternly. The Diamond nodded obediently and stood still in the water. For once, she was able to ignore the lure of playing around with her clutchmates or splashing everyone around her. Her tailtip twitched, revealing the boredom she had already accumulated, but Kisa fixed her with a stare.
Kisa reached the shore in several moments and sat down on a rock. With a sigh, she pulled her tunic away from her chest and peered at the bandages. Sure enough, red blood was beginning to seep through in a few small areas. Kati hissed, and recovered herself with the tunic.
"Shards! C'ero will have my head!" She muttered. "You were right, Crescentia. I'm such a dimglow," Kisa had a tough decision to make now. Should she deal with it herself, or confess to C'ero that she had been irresponsible and gone into the water? Both would probably be dangerous to her health, but at least with C'ero the problem would be fixed. With a sigh, she decided to go see C'ero after Lilleth was oiled. Lillana fluttered around worriedly, flashing anxious images of wounds and blood. She shook her head at the Copper flitt.
"Don't worry, Lilla. I'll be okay." She told her firelizard, stroking her back lovingly.

Snorting as she began to slather oil along Lilleth’s back, Cresce replied, “Glad you figured it out.” She wasn’t trying to be rude(at the moment), but she was being so stubborn. In any case, that wasn’t her problem right now as she had a hatchling to oil. As she started rubbing, she said to the Diamond, “I’m used to oiling a fidgety bastard of a Bronze, not hatchlings, so if I’m rubbing too hard, just bump me with your tail or something, alright?” She said to the dragon as she worked the oil into the newborn’s hide, making sure to get every spot. A cracked hide was a very bad thing, especially on such a pretty hatchling. She quickly became absorbed in her work, as she usually did, since oiling a dragon seemed to put her at ease somehow. Thus, she didn’t hear Kisana’s thanks until she snapped out of her light trance.
“It’s nothing, really. I could use the practice. Besides, if it keeps you from bleeding out, it’s fine.” She said a bit more gently than the tone she had used earlier. She snuck a quick scratch at Lilleth’s eyeridge as a reward for behaving. “She’s behaving well, so I really don’t have any complaints. Yet.” Cresce added as she moved on to the Diamond’s tail, trying to keep it still while she rubbed oil along the hide. “I’m working as fast as I can, just relax.” She told Lilleth. “You’ll get to play soon enough.” From there, her attention again fixated solely on the hatchling once again.
Y’kito nodded at Alyana as he moved further into the water, the urge to simply dive in and swim away starting to overcome him. He loved the water and the others, even Zutrith, were going to have a hard time getting him out. “They’ll mellow out as they get older, I’m sure. Well, maybe not Zu…” He giggled as the Purple launched a spray of water his way. He opened his mouth to say something to her, but Kisana’s curse drew his attention to the girl and he gasped.
“Shards, that doesn’t look good…” He cried as he leapt out of the water and ran over to the other girl to make sure she was alright. “You need to get that tended to now…” He began trailing off as his face paled. “C’ero left to go to the jungle today.” He said, looking uncertain. Maybe they could have someone send a firelizard to find him…
